Firedog 320 July 9, 2017 Share July 9, 2017 (edited) So i've been thinking sense the specials are kinda testing the waters for a possible spin off. What would I like to see in a Friendship is Magic spin off? So heres my idea: Since Equestria Girls movies have always stuck to an epic overarching story with a villain rather than a slice of life story. Why not stick to that in a spin off series? Equestria girls could differentiate from the main series by sticking to telling a big overarching story throughout the entire show. Each episode continues after the next. Rather than following Friendship is Magic's slice of life model. I get the sense they were playing with this idea in the specials, however, you can't really have a big epic story arch over only 3 episodes like you could with a 26 episode season. This would make the series similar to an anime while sticking with the Equestria girls series model. cmarston1 5,959 July 9, 2017 Share July 9, 2017 I would be pretty down for a serialized Equestria Girls Netflix series. The storyline I had in mind would be that it takes place during the main 7's senior year of high school and they would still be dealing with their new powers, as well as that of how magic is leaking form the portal into the human world. Sunset would be wondering whether or not she should go back to Equestria when graduation becomes closer, all the while the girls are busy trying to juggle their last year of high school with trying to stop dangerous magical incidents from happening using their powers. They could even consider severing the link between both worlds which could also mix in quite nicely with the storyline of Sunset considering going back home to Equestria.
Lonely Fanboy48 28 July 9, 2017 Share July 9, 2017 The only thing that the Specials didn't do is continue what LOE end off like the Magic leaking. If it decideds to have more episodes than they should do everything from the Pony world unique. Fixing changes like Princess Twilight's love towards Flash and have her interact with Sci Twi in a Slice of life way. I'm not really a fan of Slice of life but if there going to do that they should have returning characters to at least fix the problems I have with Equestria Girls. Ganondorf8 11,311 July 9, 2017 Share July 9, 2017 They most likely will continue with Sunset's struggles in trying to understand how the magic works in the human world with the rest of the Rainbooms assisting her whenever something serious happen. I see this as the main focus of Equestria Girls since Friendship Games, Legend of Everfree, and to an extent, Mirror Magic, addressed this since Sunset still feels guilty over bringing Equestrian Magic into a world that should never have gotten it in the first place. This wouldn't be the only thing that happens as from what we saw of the specials, other characters have their own issues so this can be expanded on by giving characters other problems unique to them. Plus, the more we're away from Canterlot High, the better.

Not going to lie, that sounds like a dang near perfect route to take. And considering exactly what was established/set up in the specials (and even "Legend of Everfree" to an extent), part of me actually wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that is what they are actually going to do.
