Is Hasbro using an outdated method of transferable media?

They've been releasing their animated content onto DVD since the dawn of generation 1- problem is, DVD's are quickly becoming obsolete, just as Flash is. When you purchase a new computer, phone, or tablet- it doesn't have a DVD loading slot. Though Laptops and perhaps gaming consoles do- I'm not sure. And while i understand that DVD's are dirt cheap to purchase in bulk because they're quickly fading out- so are USB Flash Drives, which can store a lot more content than a single DVD can. With Blu-Ray and newer technology quickly replacing DVD's, what form of storage device can you see Hasbro getting on board with in the near future, to release their animated content?

It has baffled me to no end why Hasbro hasn't released a collection for the show in glorious 4K Blu Ray. DVD's have basically no real capability of taking advantage of what is starting to becoming more of the norm in terms of television technology. Even blu rays are becoming dirt cheap since 4K versions are the new big thing. So at this point there's no point in continuing solely on the DVD market that is rapidly losing steam. If I had to pick, 4K Blu Ray and 4K streaming would be my choices for distribution.

Streaming appears to be the future in consumption of audiovisual media. Hasbro has already made MLP available at least on Netflix and Vimeo. As for DVDs, I imagine they will release them as long as they have at least decent sales. Actually, I don't think Blu-ray has much more of a future than DVD looking at sales. Though it has its advantages over DVDs, most people just never seemed to care about them as much as they did about the advantages of DVDs over VHS.

Streaming is the future and most physical media is on the road to becoming obsolete. Hasbro is doing a great job of making MLP available on Netflix and other services like iTunes. Still, the lack of content on Blu-Ray is strange to say the least. You'd think Hasbro would have given it a chance since it was really gaining traction right around the time the series was first premiering.

In that case, we might as well tear down all of the bookstores and stuff, and just stay home and download things on the internet, while 'evolving' into giant robot brains in jars, because we only care about streaming. Do you know how many robot brains in jars eat on a daily basis? Not many, I can tell you.
