What surprises are in store for g4?

So I think its safe to say that g4 isn't going anywhere for a while, although I think milking a gen for over 7 years is going to make it feel stale (how many variants of the mane 6 can you do without the kiddies getying t to red of it?)  So what- aside from throwing more alicorns into the mix- can writers and toy peddlers do to make the series and toyline feel fresh and exciting as FiM drags on?

I don't mind the toys, as I only intend to get one toy out of each of my fav ponies. The show is the one that concerns me

They could make toys for characters they haven't made yet, but they will probably just do the same thing they have been doing for 7 years now.

Villain toys, more Guardians of Harmony, more side character toys, there is a lot of untapped potential in the toy market.
