"He mentioned it yes." Speechless' father nodded, and when Maple asked his name, his expression changed to realization, before going back to the friendly smile ."Oh, of course, I totally forgot to introduce myself last night." "My name is Crimson Night, call me whatever you see fit."

[Maple Bat 3,568]

"It's alright you didn't mention last night for me was pretty bad. Maple. Maple Bat. Doesn't matter to me. Just don't call me Fluttershy's daughter. that's all I care about." Maple knew he knew her name but she wanted to add that she didn't care what she was called by.

"I'll continue calling you Maple then." Crimson said as he got back up and looked at both Maple and Speechless "Do you want something? Tea? Apples? Maybe some pie?"  "Midnight will be back home soon so I'll be going to the kitchen anyway." 

[Maple Bat 3,568]

"Some pie sounds wonderful right now actually." Maple chucked "Well as long as it's alright for me to have it." She joked about the story Crimson had just told her, she had no idea if it was an appropriate time for it is he didn't seem to worry about the story its self.

Speechless also replied with a sound, and Crimson said with the usual friendliness "Just a moment." and walked in the kitchen. After few minutes he came carrying two plates, both having a piece of pie on them, and brought them to Speechless and Maple. Crimson then walked back to the kitchen, and soon came out with teapot and 4 cups, putting them on the dinner table, leaving two of the cups to the side, he had brought them in case Maple or Speechless decided to take tea. He then once more went in the kitchen and brought two more pieces of pie, putting them on the table. One of the pieces on the table seemed to be little darker in color than the others.

When the pie was brought out Maple, as soon as she gets hers, starts to eat it. "Thank you." She said after swallowing the bite. "I'm guessing the darker one is yours..." Maple noted aloud. She poured some tea for herself not thinking much of the 'blood' pie

"You are welcome." "And your guess is right." Crimson said as he took a seat at the darker pie and poured himself some tea. Speechless also took some tea and started eating his pie, though he didn't 'say' anything. After minute or two, Midnight came home, and after seeing Maple she asked "I take it that you are feeling better?"

"Better, yes." Maple replied to her. "But it'll be a bit longer before I can go back to the guard. Since I have to be in such a good condition for my own training schedule. Can't afford to be seen slacking for any reason. So I'll just keep being sick, not feeling too well anyways. Most of the healing I have to thank you and crimson, with that medicine." She acknowledged. She then continued to eat the pie. She hadn't ate since before the 2's adventure so she ate the whole pie slice quickly.

"Glad to hear you are better, that means your injuries weren't too severe." Midnight said happily as she sat next to Crimson "Though you are right that you have to have some sick leave, injuring yourself again right away could get bad". She poured tea for herself and after eating some of her pie she continued "Oh, also, what would you like to eat?" "We'll eat soon so I could make you something if you'd like."

Maple thought about what she'd like. "I'm not picky. I'll just have whatever you were planning on making. If you had no plans then maybe a few apples?" Maple smiled brightly "Though I agree it's great that the injuries aren't too bad. Should be better in another day or so."

[Catpone Cerberus 23,589]

"Aright." Midnight said smiling, and after finishing her tea and pie, she walked in the kitchen. Speechless had also finished his pie, and was now sipping the last of his tea, and though he hadn't really given any input to the conversations, he seemed happy. Crimson had also almost finished, he asked "It's still pretty early in the night, are you going to rest for a while or are you planning to do something?".Speechless replied by shrugging and shaking his head, implying that he wasn't sure.

"I didn't really have any plans either." She said to speechless understanding his body language she realized something and looked at Crimson "Oh did my parents come by? They probably didn't yet. Me and speechless weren't gone for very long. Maybe they won't worry at all and not come. I tend to get hurt a lot in my line of work but Mom wants to worry every time." She chucked.

"No, they haven't been here." "But I'm sure they'll be here soon if they are coming."  Crimson replied, and from the kitchen Midnight added with a chuckle "Of course she's worried about you, that's what we mothers do."

"I figured they'd come as soon as they got the letter but I guess not. Since I didn't see them out there and you said they'd almost be here" Maple replied to Crimson's comment she also heard Midnights but didn't comment because she was a bit lost in her own thoughts "W... What? Sorry zoned out"

"Well, considering that we sent the letter through the mail, it would have arrived some time around the day." Crimson said as he got up and started clearing the table "And if we assume that they had a busy day, they most likely rested before leaving home." "It even could be that they waited because they didn't want to wake us up, assuming that you told we are batponies." "That is of course, if they decided to come." He then carried the dishes in the kitchen, soon coming back with new ones, setting them on the table, and returning to the kitchen.

After few seconds, both Midnight and Crimson came back, carrying the food and drinks to the table. It wasn't anything special, the food was what one would expect for a pony family to eat, with small basket of apples next to it. For the drink-options there was water, chocolate milk, and cider. They sat down.

Maple looked at what Midnight had brought out and took one of the apples not knowing if she was being rude or not, she started to drink it but she did so quietly. Felling a bit awkward around Speechless and his parents wasn't necessarily helping her try to make conversation with the family.

None of them seemed to mind, and each of them took food and drinks in order, Midnight being the first and Speechless the last. Midnight broke the silence with a friendly tone "So, I noticed a black gown that doesn't belong to me when I came home." "I take it's yours Maple?" "Is it Rarity's work?"

"Yes, it is mine." Maple said when she glanced at the one she was referring to. "Funny story, you're son wanted to meet Rarity on our walk. When we actually got to her store here she was here. Up late and busy. She needed my help with fitting that dress..." She paused for a bit. "She used the wrong highlight on it and had already finished it so she let me keep it since she knows I don't have anything super 'Dressy' I'm probably not gonna wear it often but it looks nice."

"I see." Midnight said smiling "It's always good to have nice clothing ready, someday you may need it when you don't expect to." "It can be surprisingly hard to find a good looking dress in a short time."

[Maple Bat 3,568]

"Only thing about that is most events where you should like that nice happen in Canterlot. When they happen in the castle I usually show up... Wearing my armor I mean." Maple explained after she took a drink of the cider. "But you never know what might happen, Uncle Zephyr might get married or something, So I'll probably need it."

"It's not only events where you would want to dress nicely." Midnight pointed out as she ate and drank, "What if stallion you liked asked you for a date to a fine restaurant?" "Wearing your mother's dress can be embarrassing." Crimson chuckled and said to Midnight "You didn't look that bad."

Maple sighed a bit "Well... It's not like I get asked on a lot of those either, I kinda hit this point in the guard where everyone thinks I'm better than them so they're just demoralized when it comes to wanting to form a relationship with me. They just see me as so much better than them. But that does mean when the right pony comes along they'll have true love for me rather than just liking my position or whatever." She chucked a bit about her and speechless' conversation but didn't mention it.

Midnight chuckled a little, and said with a kind tone "That confirms my point doesn't it." "It will be very unexpected when it happens." "But you are more than your job, if you stop defining yourself by your job, others will too." She chuckled more "Though I have a feeling that I don't need to tell you that somepony doesn't feel demoralized" Causing Speechless to get embarrassed.

Maple chucked awkwardly at the last part, she started to nervously mess with the very front of her mane, "W... Why do you say that..." She said nervously while slightly blushing. She gave Speechless a gesture of 'how did they know?'

Speechless shrugged not knowing, and Midnight chuckled "Even if your reaction wouldn't have made it obvious, I can see it from you two, or well, mostly Speechless" Speechless looked both confused, and embarrassed, "I could tell he cared for you when you first came here, and more I saw him with you, more I knew it wasn't just because you were injured." "And considering how much more....comfortable he seems, I guessed he had told you, and gotten positive answer." Crimson then added "And you didn't exactly hide it when you came from the walk." "But don't worry, there's nothing wrong with that." "Not that it would be any of our business anyway."
