A Season 6 Starlight's Village episode

I know many of her fans love this about her and it’s what makes her path to redemption more believable than any of the other reformed villains. What was so horrible about the episode that it needs to be removed all together?

I think it was a little over the top, but it was a nice idea.

I have my own problems with ELTSD, but nothing that I think is worth removing one of her key character developement episodes.

Yeah, it definitly was a good episode for Starlight, but the way she immitiatly grabs her spellbooks was a little unrealistic for me.

That's exactly my problem, we get no clue as to her motivations until way after she starts messing up. Look at Lesson Zero, the episode most compared to ELTSD. We know right away why Twilight is panicking, as silly as it is, and we spend most of the episode focused on her panic attack. Very little time is spent on Twilights mess up.

Now let’s look at ELTSD. We see Starlight’s panic attack, but get no inside look at why she’s panicking. The vast majority of the episode is focused on Starlight’s mistake instead of explaining why she’s resorting to magic. And the reason given at the end, that she’s afraid to disappoint anyone, is sugar coating her real fears and anxieties that have already been established earlier in the season. Starlight is terrified of rejection. When Twilight points out that Starlight hasn’t done any friendship lessons, Starlight starts to worry that Twilight is disappointed in her. And she worries that if Twilight is disappointed in her, she’ll give up on her entirely. So, looking to impress Twilight, she tries to do all of her friendship lessons at once.

So we end up with Twilight looking more sympathetic, even though her reason for brainwashing an entire town is shit, while Starlight, who has a real, psychological reason to panic, looks worse.

The only thing which bothered me so much until this day is how casual she was while she casting spell on HER FRIENDS, she even smirked, i am not a psychiatrist but that look like ... psycopathy, can anyone explain that part to me, its weird. In Lesson Zero, Twilight acted like a child molester when she casted her love spell but she was out of her mind at that point. Starlight, on the other hand, was not under the same pressure as Twilight and yet, Starlight just did it without any consideration, thats messed up (and awesome at the same time).

ELTSD is a great episode to study Starlight character, its 'Everything wrong with Starlight Glimmer' episode, if anyone didn't understand her character after watching this ep at all, they didnt pay intention enough (in my opinion), this ep is evil nessesary.
