MLPArena and Google How you became a fan of My Little Pony Years of collecting MLP led me to FiM Hi all! I'm Witch. I recently rejoined the mlp community as an almost exclusive G1 pony collector, with a few G2/3 from my childhood. I've come from over at My Little Pony Arena which is a forum I've been a part of in my quest to get back into the pony world one step at a time. The community is beautiful and I'm pretty sure my mum had an account there when I was a kid to help me find and buy G1s years ago which was super sweet to find out! I grew up watching the G1 animations especially the G1 Tales slice of life series, and am overjoyed to see mlp enjoy another expansive, impressive creative realm. I also love knowing Lauren Faust based a lot the protagonists of FiM on her old G1 ponies! I didnt get into G4 until very recently and I only own a G4 Blossomforth - who is very sweet. I'm very much an old school mlp girl, but since leaving university and getting a very stressful job alongside my work as a concept artist, I developed some severe anxiety, stress and depression which I had not experienced since high school. It was and is very debilitating and as a result I branched out to some of my old comforts to help me cope, and mlp was probably the biggest thing for me growing up. I'm glad to be in new mlp territory though! My favourite all time pony as a kid was a G1 Sparkle Pony called Twinkler who was lost years ago in an abrupt house move. Shes also the inspiration for my ponysona, Sabina. I hope this can be another forum I enjoy and find friends in! 10 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yeah I dont remember much of the G3 cartoons because I found them a little too kiddy for me to ever get into but I definitely enjoyed collecting the pony figures. Just now, Cocoa said: Hi there! I was looking at your Celestia cosplay! Very awesome! I never cosplayed as ponies but I did cosplay as one of the Neopets Faeries when I was a kid and since then general comic characters at cons but I remember pretending to be a pony and it just brings me back! Such nostalgia! Your artworks are also especially nice! Ive only just started drawing ponies properly, and my style is definitely informed by my years of watching G1 and even G3. Still trying to find my niche in pony art but its awesome looking at others works. FiM is a really interesting style for me and Id like to incorporate its influence without losing my little 'style'. I also made a reference sheet using old G1 box art which was fun (so it isnt original but I wanted to see Sabina as a 'real' G1 pony!) Thats what disappointed me most about G3 - and no boy ponies! What! Haha Hes a very cool character and I like that he has origins in Aztec mythology! Agreed, I love Gen 4 for its great references to varies mythologies. OMG, have you seen Return of Harmony yet? That was Discord’s introduction and back when he was a villain. He was one of the most intimidating and simultaneously hilarious things the show had done at that point. He was actually based off of a character named Q from Star Trek, right down to the finger snapping. And they’re both played by the lovely John DeLancie.
