movies/tv Could Black Panther out gross The Avengers?

Look I'm just a fan of comic book movies, and I'm amazed the MCU has lasted 10 years so far. It looks like Black Panther may out gross The Avengers domestic take. If Infinity War manages to live up to the hype, the MCU could go on for another 10-20 years.

Even if I am not sure if would actually do so, I kinda hope that it does.  Because if Black Panther out grosses The Avengers at the box office, than the BS excuses of Hollywood executives that "there isn't a market for stories featuring minorities" wouldn't cut it.  Plus given how much of a feat that it would be for the film to make more money The Avengers at the box office, they couldn't even use the excuse of "it only made money because it was part of the MCU" either.  Maybe finally making some of these executives to realize that maybe audiences want to see movies that feature nonwhite people.  Even if Black Panther doesn't out gross The Avengers, but sill manages to hit the one billion dollar mark at the box office, which looks likely, given how it isn't a regular occurrence for MCU films to make that much money, what I said above would still apply.

I don't see it. Black Panther was a lower tier property in Marvel and doesn't have the same name recognition as any of the avengers. Not only that, but Avengers was a land mark event built several years in the making. There has never been a multi-film crossover event ever done like that prior. Black Panther is bringing nothing new to the table. 

In terms of world wide gross for MCU films, it currently ranks 10th place.
