Who's had the most improved episodes?

What characters would you say have had the most improvement in episode quality? I say it would be the CMCs or Spike.

CMCs had a small improvement around the time that the show started to move away from their obsession with cutie marks, and a big one around season 3 when their episodes started to actually become entertaining to me. 

I continue to feel the quality of Spike episodes has been fairly consistent. Two of my favourite Spike episodes are in season 2. 

Fluttershy and Twilight declined in my opinion for a while, but their episodes improved for me considerably in seasons 6 and 7 respectively.

Echoing the CMCs and Spike as having the most improved episodes (especially the latter — not one bad episode since Princess Spike), but I have to add Starlight, too. After ending S6 with two bad episodes, she's fit nicely into her role with more consistent ones, with only A Royal Problem less than good.

Outside the obvious Spike and CMC, I have to say Pinkie Pie. A lot of her early episodes, even ones I love, the conflicts and plot revolve around her being childish and moronic. Compare Party of One to Pinkie Pride, two episodes with very similar conflicts where Pinkie worries her friends don’t want or need her anymore. In Pinkie Pride, she sees her friends giving someone else the attention and praise that would usually go to her. In Party of One it’s becuase she... forgets her own birthday? She became a more relatable and realistic character as the source of her conflicts became more relatable and realistic.

Princess Twilight, if you watched Season 1 and compare her to now, it's monumentally different (and not just in the wing department).

Spike's episodes have gotten better, improved from S5, cause I didn't much care for Princess Spike, cause I can't see Spike taking advantage of Twilight's name.
