They're planning SOMETHING for Spike!

Ok, I know for a fact now that the writers are indeed planning something for him in a future season (probably 9 since, yunno)! I got proof of it!

I found this on Wikipedia: In Spike's role as a dragon outsider living among ponies, Meghan McCarthy says, "He's trying to figure out who he is. What beyond being Twilight's assistant is his role in this world? I think he really reflects how everybody feels at some point in their life."

And this is in his character description for the movie: Spike is uncertain of his destiny but resolute in his devotion to Twilight Sparkle. <---- And I also have a Spike plushie that says this too!

Now we don't know what's gonna happen, and nothing will ever replace Twilight for him, but there is SOMETHING that's gonna happen with him! All these descriptions seem to say so! And I think season 9 will give us the answer! There is no doubt about it now! What do you think might happen? He's already dragon ambassador so I'm at a loss right now. What else could it be then?

I think Spike wants to know what it means to be a dragon, but, Ponyville and Canderlot will always be his home.

I normally don't trust Wikipedia, however, it wouldn't surprise me if that's a legit quote. Spike growing wings is obviously not going to be the end of his character arc no matter what the current plan they have in mind is. Aside from selling toys, there are always greater story purposes to characters going through such changes.

He may find himself as a dragon but I can't see him leaving Ponyville its his home as much as Twilights.

There’s a lot of ground to cover with Spike’s coming of age, and I feel like they’ve been pushing it a little more recently. I’m not sure how it will fit in the show’s time frame, but it’s already kinda weird about giving responsibilities to children, so who knows what he’ll become.

I agree with your idea and a Spike/Starlight episode. As for Fluttershy/Spike, after thinking a lot over, I'm not sure about that idea now.

But either way, those are the only TWO episodes I want for Spike in Season 9 (not the Spike/Fluttershy one). Seriously, though, if you want more than two Spike episodes, that's your choice, but I think just these two Spike episodes is good enough for the final season.

Well, then, how about Rarity gets that and one solo episode but no combos? That would work, wouldn't it?

Besides, Rarity's been getting a little too much attention in recent seasons, in addition to having combo episodes with everypony, and she really needs to slow down.

I dunno how this stuff works, but it doesn't seem that easy. We could have an episode where Rarity comes to realize she's been exploiting him, but at this point I'm under the impression that Spike doesn't particularly care that Rarity doesn't share his feelings.

Or they may be planning the reverse of that. And perhaps they will find away to make Sparity official , but in a way, that indicate their finally together as  an item, but not so in your face. Think MacxBelle.   Also, they may also being planning to have a magiacal change happen to him ala CMC's, but possibly full growth (Ember Size).

Aside of that, I still say the other two Spike episode ideas are perfect enough for Season 9.

This is why I think that if they tackle the one sided child crush of Spike, they would need to do it from his perspective.
