Do you believe that Earth Ponies can ascend to Alicorn status?

but do you think that at first an earth pony would earn Wings, then a Horn for all of their great accomplishments? 

or just gain both at once?

I am certain they could, an Earth pony can learn all of the most important things like any other pony. They may not have unicorn magic but in Equestria, friendship is where it truly counts and Earth ponies can learn that just fine. Makes me kinda wish that Cadence was an Earth pony first rather than a pegasus. Would give them a bit of a boost.

Both wings and a horn at once, I think. Becoming an alicorn means gaining the magic of all three pony types, and while it's not very visible, that's what happened to Cadance and Twilight as well.

Yep wings and horn at once just like the others get Earth Pony magic its just that unlike the other  2 species there's no visible indication of their nature.

While I also agree all at once that's not necessarily true if they're aquiring each bit of magic one piece at a time. Pegasi and Unicorns could be getting the horn/wings of one species and then the earth pony magic but since earth ponies don't have a big "I'm an earth pony" sign you wouldn't know. Maybe Twilight got earth pony magic then her wings later on after she passed the test Celestia gave her on noticing she had earth pony magic .

while it could be possible that would suggest that you could have both wings and horn,without being an alicorn until you get the earth pony traits aswel

As a theory it does have its flaws yes but it would explain the air traffic controller male pony we see with wings and a horn.

i believe that one was more of a slip on the animation team's part, but lets just talk of it for the fun of it

who's to say he's not a full allicorn from a distand land,an exiled prince of some sort

I suppose an Earth Pony turning into an alicorn would be possible in any term if he/she is up to standards and duties of Celestia.

I think it was. Some animator working for FiM on Twitter likely confirmed that.
