Trolls taking Skype names from the forums?

Sorry I wasn't sure whether I should make a problem thread on this because I'm not sure if anything can be done.

Of course we have a thread meant for sharing our Skype names:

http://mlpforums.com...__40#entry47379

Trolls seem to have gotten a hold of many Skype names of the members of the MLPForums and I would assume it's from that thread. Of course I blocked them after they spammed me with some unpleasant anti-brony messages.

I noticed there were many other members of the mlpforums that were added to the trolls chat room.

The only place I know of that has a bunch of Skype names of the members of these forums is that thread...once again I don't know if anything can be done but this is just more of a heads up that someone is likely using the thread for the purpose of trolling us.

I know, but I don't really care

I don't care too much either because it's very simple to place a block on them.

What I don't like is the idea of trolls lurking the forums to find personal accounts and information and of course there's the risk of the forums getting a flood of trolls should they decide to take it to the next level and and make accounts...

If it becomes a common issue (I haven't had any myself), you might consider going into your Skype options, and in the privacy area, setting 'allow calls from' and 'allow IMs from' to the 'people in my contact list only' - this will prevent people from communicating with unless you've specifically authorized them to do so.

I've looked at some of the trolls and some are pathetic excuses for trolls. I know about bad trolls that are better than these ones. They aren't amusing or anything but to me they aren't accomplishing their goal at all. I think it's best to not respond to them until they leave everyone alone. Finest Hour is right. Just ignore them. I think I'll continue to watch them though. It's fun to see how the fail-trolls struggle.

I wasn't really asking for help how to deal with trolls, ignoring them is the obvious answer...

I'm just letting the admins know what's going on.

What could they do?

Trolls are going to troll.

There is no avoiding them.

And you asked "I don't know if anything can be done"

The answer-

IGNORE.

It's not necessarily that thread, since you have the option to display your Skype name on your profile as well, the thread just made it easier for a person/group to get a bunch of our Skype names at once... almost as if it were a Skype name emporium.

The best thing to do is just leave your Skype name as private, and have people ask you for it privately, and if you're willing to trust them enough, you can give it to them.

***There isn't much the admins can do about this problem, since Skype is not affiliated with mlpforums.com except tell you not to give out personal information such as usernames unless you want them to be seen... On forums, what you put doesn't ONLY go to people you choose, once its out there, anyone can view it.
