Pinkie related to Mayor Mare?

There was a theory (I can't recall where I read it, or by who, now) that claimed Pinkie might've been adopted by the Pie family, and had actually been Mayor Mare's foal. The evidence that was presented made sense.  Before her time in office as a politician, Mayor Mare had Pink hair. This was seen briefly in  the Gabby Gums episode, where she was in the middle of dyeing it. Their hair also shares a near identical structure, both Pinkie and Mayor Mare's have a long, swoopy/ puffy forelock that ends in little hook shape at the end. They share the same eye color, also it's pretty much notorious for politicians to have scandals and illicit relationships. It wouldn't bee too farfetched to assume that the Mayor got pregnant before she took office, and dumped the foal in the middle of nowhere on a rock farm outside of Ponyville, to protect her position.

That's really a TV sort of thing. A large majority of politicians lead normal boring lives, especially in more local positions. It wouldn't make sense for Mayor Mare to dump a foal because that's the sort of thing that can come back to bite you in the ass and ruin your career. It's also hard to use colors to link relation in this show because so many colors and designs are reused over and over again. Not to mention destiny has at the very least a minor role to play.

What I find even less believable is an aptitude test where you can get the option of politician. I had to take a bunch during school, and the closest I could get was lawyer, police officer, or public speaker, and I'd check to see if they had it!

Many characters in MLP share the same body type as it allows DHX to reuse assets with ease without having to make a unique shape for everyone. In this case, Pinkie and Mayor Mare might have been given the same body type but were tweaked respectively to make them look more unique amongst the others and to set themselves apart from each other.

that would be the boring answer. There's still a lot of questions concerning Pinkie's family, as the show even addresses. Nana Pie, Granny Pinkie, her relation to the Apples....who knows where Mayor Mare could fit into all that.

Will the show be able to explore these ideas? Maybe not as there is only so much time per episode but then the comics could provide some answers. Then again, it could be an idea they are exploring but haven't revealed it yet.

Oh wow, I never thought of that! It would explain why Pinkie's design and colors are so different from the rest of her family!
