MrDavey is a brilliant example on how to make people mad by playing around using your talent. Reminds me of tanashipanda with some of the lesser known animations that weren't clop but were totally nsfw anyway.

While people might think good animators should only make lots and lots of sacharine content, I myself think breaking the mold and playing with moods can give a twisted yet very creative output for their talent. Besides, the best fanworks from the early days and what dragged a lot of people were usually grimdark things xD
We can't deny things like fallout equestria are stapple for the brony thing. Same goes with the lot of creepypasta short games and the psychologic and gory horror fics from 2011. I'm still amazed people are shocked by a video that has been with the fandom for so long.

Not to forget, that the song "Smile" was the top (best) MLP song at the time, adding to the fact they were trying to get as much attention as possible with this one

I'll never forget the day I chose to watch that.  I was in tears at the end, no joke.  To see my favourite ponies get hurt like that, it was so horrible. Not to mention, the original's my favourite song in the series!

The Smile HD was soo horrible and what have they done to Rarity and the rest of the mane six is just DEFINITELY TOO HORRIBLE!!!
