Untweaking Permissions

Recommended Posts

After a month of evaluation and review I just discovered that the recent change that requires a new user to make one approved post before they can start interacting normally hasn’t caught many spammer or trolls. Definitely not enough to warrant the annoyance to new members. Since I try so many new security measures often some ideas like this are bound to turn out failures.

Effective now, the setting that gates new users is turned off. No more preemptive queue. As always should you see any suspicious new accounts please notify a Mod or Admin.

Thank you

I take it that there were a lot of spam/troll accounts that pretended to be new users, by starting with a seemingly innocent post to gain mod approval?
