Well it's up to you to decide what you consider important enough to learn, but I wouldn't advise leaving things off till the last minute.

It works for me although I could see where it would be a hard thing for some people to do. I don't do this for all my classes just the easier ones where the professors basically hand you the test to study for the test...

an hour and a half of studying before a test will only trigger your short time memory and you will forget it all the second you leave the classroom. you dont go to school only for decent grades on tests, the prefered result would be understanding most if when you are finished aswell

 

not to mention there is a big difference between knowing and understanding.

lets say there are things in a subject that is enough to know somewhat how it works to be able to use it. but later it might be neccesary to actually understand it to for example put it to use as a branch of a larger picture.

that wont be happening after an hour and a half of studying before a test.

 

tl;fr: if you know something, you will forget it. if you understand it, you wont. pay at least some attention. I dont think you need all you attention for trivial stuff. but at least some

I feel like 50% of the information given at school is useless. 25% of it interests me.

Basically, around 66% of the stuff I even try to learn, I will forget sooner or later.

 

Bored in class? I either keep listening, talk to my friend if he is bored too, or simply sleep.

Meh, nothing I learn here is relevant to me, and most of it is bellow me. Except right now of course, In my german class. Fun, but I can't pay attention for a whole hour.

 

Anyways, I had to get off forums right after I posted this thread because i got caught in english XD. Had to explain that my research project was on MLP and that it was relevant research as I'm apparently 'observing 'brony' behavior.' She bought it. And then I had to present my subject, and actually start working on the project itself, and then I had to justify MLP to my class and it was just a mess. But it did get me caught and entertain me for a bit. but I'm bored again in german regardless XD.
