ggg-2 3,553 August 31, 2019 Share August 31, 2019 What is your favorite reference to Greek (or would it be Fleek? ) mythology in FIM? Mine is Bright Mac and Buttercup's intertwined trees being a reference to the story of Baucis and Philemon who played host to a disguised Zeus and Hermes when the two gods were turned away by the elderly couple's neighbors. For their kindness they were not only spared from the destruction of their town (yeah, don't disrespect the gods, kay?) but their cottage was transformed into a temple, which Baucis and Philemon were made guardians of and were granted their wish that when the time came for one to die, the other would too. Following their death, the two were transformed into a pair of intertwined trees, one oak and one linden. Don't be a nerd. Join the herd!
MLPMusic 169 September 1, 2019 Share September 1, 2019 I like the greek mythology reference in "The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone", with the flashback were Arimaspi stole the Idol of Boreas from the griffons. The Arimaspi were a tribe of cyclopes in northern Scythia who lived at the foot of the Riphean Mountains (the Carpathians). The cyclopes warred with the gold-guarding griffins in the Hyperborean lands near the cave of Boreas (the North Wind god) for there treasure. Its very interesting since we don't really learn much about griffins in the show.
