Do you think Luna and Celestia will return?

Celestia lived longer than 1000 years, Twilight won't outlive her friends. So will Celestia and Luna return after Twilight's regime? Is their retirement just temporary? Or will there be other rulers of Equestria after Twilight?

I think Celestia and Luna will visit Twilight occasionally, but I think their retirement is permanent. I say that because I don't see anything from the show that indicates their retirement is temporary and that they would eventually return to their original positions as rulers of Equestria. Celestia and Luna would also be much older by the time Twilight steps down from the throne, so I don't see a reason why they would return when they are older than when they retired.

Rather, I think Twilight will prepare a successor for whenever she wants to retire, just like Celestia and Luna prepared Twilight for becoming a princess and letting her grow until she was ready to become ruler of Equestria. I don't know who exactly will be Twilight's successor, but I know of a very good candidate:

The future is a mysterious place, so who knows?. Though I don't think they are any more immortal than  Twilight is.

And who says a Princess must always rule? Perhaps Twilight will turn Equestria into a republic.

But no really, I bet they probably wont return, not on official business at least.

They've been ruling together for about 1000 years, they're probably super excited to just sit back and relax for once, away from Equestria

Well, I think they will be returning for Pony Life. The toy line has them, so we will probably see them feeling good as hell.
