"There's wounded dragons in the med area here, he's been watching what doctors here do. I think he has a room somewhere here. Odd that Quasi chose to let some hospital nurse into his palace. He's been known to go out and do whatever normal dragons do and talking to his citizens as if they're equals. And... not like one of those Earthling leaders trying to put on a persona, he is... genuine."

"Anyway, we could go look for Placidus, he really won't mind."

"These are his own species, it only makes sense he wants them to be happy, I just hope Ruby will be aright, can't imagine what losing her like this would do to Quasi." she got up and went to a mirror, cleaning herself up a bit, a good thing about being red was that your face couldn't turn any redder than it already was, thus it was easier to hide the 'after-cry' look. "But I guess we could go, helps to clear the mind...but before we go." she walked next to Arrow "Once again, thank you for listening, it was needed." She then gently but quickly  poked her snout against his forehead, it was a gesture that dragons did sometimes, it had many meanings, but how she saw it. it was kinda like a hug, but slightly more intimate, just not as intimate as a kiss would be.

"Maybe worry about that after we have gotten her out?" Cinder commented, still in unusually low voice "Hypotheticals won't help her, how long is this boat ride anyway, I want to spill some blood already." the impatience was apparent from her voice.

Arrow knew dragons well, he knew what the gesture, never used it or had it used on him.

"I'm always here when you need me."

He would go with Cinder to find Placidus. He would be available few days.

But after that, they would finally catch up with him. He told him that Ember would like to speak to him about an issue but, he'd let Ember tell him.

"What ever problem you have, I'm glad to help. If you'd like to talk alone we can have Arrow wait outside."

Days would pass before they reached shore and then... the fight was on. Nightwings and Rainwings would fly off the ships and engage in battle at the enemies.

The Dasonians seemed to have small wooden boats with sails, they would land on shore and the Dasonians would run into battle in large numbers. Archers would fire a volley of arrows enough to make a large shadow on the ground.

One group of Dasonians captured a bunker on the beach, poison gas was thrown in only for those coyotes to run out at the enemy dragons. They looked as if there was no way they should be alive, some were coughing up parts of themselves as they kept running towards a large group of dragons on the far side of the beach would flee in terror.

Quasi was shouting commands while machine guns fired all over the beach. Any dragon that came at him was quickly killed.

"Capture the bunkers on that ledge!"

Sky and Myra would be with their Dasonians fighting at the front.

Queen Glory would be ordering the rainwings, it was easy to notice that they weren't experienced in war but, Glory seemed to ensure they were trained enough to properly fight. One dragon would attempt to attack Glory only to get a face full of corrosive venom and a stab to the heart by her bodyguard, Deathbringer who probably insisted he go with her after his insisting she stay home failed.

There was one bright side to this, relations with the Rainwings would certainly increase.

While they waited, when Ember wasn't either in her room or doing something with Arrow, she'd spend her time around the building helping with anything she could that didn't involve violence, she didn't necessarily enjoy busywork, but she did it mainly to keep her mind busy and to pretend like she was helping with the on going situation, which she was more and more worried about as time went on, since she didn't actually know how long it was supposed to take.

"He can stay, it's nothing he doesn't know already." She responded to Placidus, her problem wasn't actually a secret, she just never really talked about it because before Arrow she didn't really have friends, only allies and acquaintances, she had purposely kept it that way so that she didn't endanger anyone. "Do you know anything about overly active predatory instincts in dragons?"

None of them had expected it to take that long, and Cinder and Danthe seemed especially frustrated about it, but they managed, kinda, Vix had to help calm Danthe down before she started to break the ship from sheer frustration, and Cinder kinda just spaced out, disappearing now and then, and just generally acting weird, most of the time she responded if spoken to, but not always. Vix tried his skills to get Cinder back to earth so to speak, but was unsuccessful.

Cinder went full berserk on the battlefield, using everything she had, her main weapon, the blades attached to the shackles on her arms, he weird crystal magic and her horn's magic. She avoided the bullets and such by both using the trick she had used to eavesdrop back before Ruby had invited her to her room, and by simply making sure there was always a dragon between her and the guns, she also seemed to be very lucky, avoiding many things just at the right time. Her fighting style was opposite of Ember's, while Ember had focused on one enemy at a time, Cinder seemed to revel having as many enemies to fight at once as possible, she was clearly enjoying the battle.

Vix and Danthe meanwhile formed a duo with a clear goal in mind, the defenses, when they were close enough, Danthe started running in, and while she passed Vix, Vix just reached out his hand and grabbed on one of her horns, climbing on her back. They then literally leaped into the battle, with Danthe Running through the battlefield, as to be expected, any bullets just bounced off of her, which also protected Vix, for dragons that came close, there was three possible fates, one getting mauled by Danthe in ways comparable to Ruby's handiwork, two, getting hit by Vix's scythe, which at first seemed ineffective, but after only moments those hit would start becoming paralyzed starting from the spot hit, and dying when it reached their vital organs, the scythe was coated in some kind of self creating magical toxin, and three, getting hit by Danthe's magic, which caused the victims to be taken over by intense fear. Their goal was to reach the defensive line, get behind it, and start destroying it from there.

"I've treated a lot of species with their mental state. I'm aware that certain types of dragons can have such instincts. You're part dragon, a thing not typical to Equestria though I'd imagine you'd have instincts on both sides. Can you tell me exactly what you feel?"

The battle was a violent one but, in all the chaos, the enemies didn't expect Danthe and Vix, there were so many dragons and coyotes, it was difficult to spot them. Once they were past the line, a lot of dragons would try to take Danthe and Vix down though some would flee seeing that their guns didn't work and their spears did nothing.

Dasonians would use that opening to get behind the enemy lines. Sky and Myra would be targeted by many dragons as their armor signaled high rank, though, they held their own long enough for Dasonian soldiers to come to their aid.

Many of both sides were being killed, ones storming the beach took the most casualties at first as to be expected, this was a sacrifice they had to make to win this battle.

Ember thought for a moment, thinking about the best way to explain it, this was also where she momentarily reconsidered her previous statement regarding Arrow, as she went through different ways to word it "It's a...desire, lust for blood if you may, it's hard to explain to those who don't feel it, it's like seeing a delicious meal when you're hungry, but instead of food, you want blood," "I have a sister, she has the same thing."

After Danthe and Vix had breached the line, Vix became more wary since there was now enemies in several directions, leaving him more open, but this was where his shield came to play, because while it looked like a normal, quite ineffective shield against dragons, it too was magically enchanted, which made it lot more effective. Danthe seemed to be enjoying the feeling of power she got from the weapons barely scratching her. 

Cinder didn't seem to have any specific goals in mind, instead she just went around causing more chaos, at some points she even managed to get dragons to kill their own by accident as she dodged their attacks or faked her location, she may have been outmatched in physical mass, but she more than made it up in her speed and agility. She did eventually start heading to the same place as the others when she noticed they had started to progress.

Placidus would go over the instincts of dragons and what parts of the brain involve instinct. He'd go over the instincts of ponies and explain how the two when combined could lead to the thing Ember is dealing with. He also explained how hormones came into play and the therapies used for dragons that have trouble dealing with their instincts.

"We have not had dragon ponies to study but it seems many of the theories are correct. Careful studies have been done on the theory of dragon-pony hybrids, along with therapy, medications could go a long way also though I suggest doing one of the therapies with the meds for more longterm help. It's a lifelong issue but these things will help you manage it properly."

After a while, what was left of the defense retreated. The chaos of unexpected factors and the fact it wasn't heavily defended due to the landing here being unexpected gave Quasi and his forces the win.

"I need drones to survey the area and I want to know where forces are."

A defense was set up to defend the gained position and reinforcements would arrive soon after.

"Dragons are hard to kill without a firearm. I had to improvise so much because my training back in the U.S. never prepared me to fight dragons with blades. Or at all really. And now they have guns and I don't."

"A weapon is as only as good as the one using it."

"In my experience medicine hasn't been a good choice, while it helped to suppress the instinct, it also suppressed other things, and excuse my opposition, but that's not really a life to live either." Ember explained, the problem with this type of things was that it was rarely only one thing that caused it, and even when it was, it was very hard to have something that affected only that one thing. "But I keep what you said in mind, I'll have to mention your insight to my therapist, as they are the one I ultimately trust with this, not meaning any disrespect to you of course, but they have been dealing with me for well over decade, they know me better than even I do sometimes." there was little bit of humor in the last part, but it was also true, she didn't doubt Placidus's expertise at all, hay, he could be more knowledgeable than her therapist, but it was hard to replicate over a decade of knowing someone. "Can I ask one more thing though? As I said, my sister has the same thing, though she embraces it rather than tries to suppress it, and she said something that made me curious, even if I'd rather not been told it...without going in too much detail, she has found that she can sate her bloodlust with...different kind of lust. I'm not going to do that, but I was wondering what you thought about that, could that help with the key to the solution somehow?"

"Good enough fighter doesn't need weapons at all." Came a response from Cinder, who was entirely covered in red, she sounded normal again, smugness notable in her tone and expression, but she was still slightly more serious than usual, after all, they had very specific goal in mind with this war "Does anyone have a towel or something?" Vix kinda just looked at Cinder before addressing Quasi "So, what's the plan?" Danthe was nearby but was busy observing the area to make sure there wasn't any surprises.

"Your sister at best is replacing one unhealthy problem with another. Things such as that turn into addictions pretty easily. Plus, the other health problems you risk getting for the rest of your life. It's a really big gamble. And medicine isn't for everyone, if that isn't for you, therapy is a good thing. Have you tried cognitive behavior therapy? You had your therapist for a decade, I'd imagine that idea would cross their mind."

"The forces will try to advance soon, I trust the generals to keep the invasion going. We should try and get being enemy lines and sneak Ruby through. Our Special Operations Unit will be helpful in that regard. Problem is you cannot fly. While you could ride the nightwings, Danthe has no wings. However... we do have stretchers meant for wounded dragons, we could carry Danthe over. If we fly at night, we'll be hard to spot. Alternatively, we could push further and then attempt our attack on Darkstalker and rescue Ruby."

"Yeah she isn't exactly a role model." Ember remarked, it wasn't really even a question if Cinder was taken the right choice, she hadn't, Ember was more wondering what else if anything could have the same results, if there was a more...savory replacement. "And probably yes, can't say I remember all the terms used during this time." "Things are relatively well in control, I have went most of my life without it causing too much trouble besides the first time, I came to you mainly to see if you had any alternate ideas for dealing with the short term in situations like now where it has flared up again, is there....something that works after a dragon has already lost it?" in this matter she wasn't against a medical option either, she didn't really care even if she was in coma for few days if the stopped the first from happening if it ever got that bad, it would ease up her in current situation too if she knew for sure that there would be a solution if things went bad, not that they were likely to go bad, but you never knew what happened.

Danthe was the one to comment on that one, though she used the language she was more comfortable with "*What specifically you need my flight for? I can move fast, I can get over walls and I can hide in darkness, or manipulate others to not see me*" "*I am aware of my weakness, and am willing to be flown in by others if absolutely necessary, but I'd like to know if I can come up with an alternative first."*

"Well, there are types of medication that can calm someone down, they are a take when needed sort of thing, though, if you're in combat it's a little hard to do since it would take 30 minutes to work. I tell this to a lot of patients. Therapy is good for helping to remedy the issue itself but, having someone to be with you through the issue is irreplaceable. It seems that's probably covered, you and Arrow seem to be on good terms. As for someone who has already lost it, well, if you're somehow restrained, your best chance would be an mental institution in that case where you probably would have to be medicated. You'd probably be let out once you're more stable but, you'd have to take medication."

"However, seeking therapy is an important step to prevent it from getting that far. Keep in mind that your case isn't impossible fix, there are many dragons who could control their instincts. We could use behavioral therapy to train your brain to respond differently to things such as violence. Exposure therapy could possibly help. To simply put, we expose you to things that would activate your instincts and you need to try and to try your best not to give in to your urges. It can be very stressful but it will get better over time. Keep in mind that at first it is important to be supervised by a professional until you have a better control of things. Over time, your brain will grow numb to any urge to follow instincts."

Ember became thoughtful for a moment, from the mentioned options exposure therapy made her think, she was partly doing that already with her work, and now that it had been said out loud, she realized that it hadn't been a problem for a while in her work where she kept thing under certain limit "That actually helps, thank you, I just need to plan few things with my personal therapist, it could take away two problems at once." "Arrow mentioned you work in Ponyville, maybe we could meet there again some day, discuss more the medical side as just in case, you are likely bit more experienced on that side of things than my therapist."

"*Don't worry about my speed, we may have wings, but we are made for the ground.*" it was true, that's why Ruby didn't really use her wings either other than for longer travel "*Besides, if I know the destination, does it really matter if I'm there at the exact same time?*" it would obviously take bit more time to run than fly, but since the point was to not be seen, exact same arrival time wasn't as big of a deal. Hiding also wasn't a problem, or well, hiding wasn't necessarily the right word, because while yes she did also hide, her main trick was using her magic to make her harder to perceive, it wasn't perfect, but if you were a soldier in an army ruled by fear who knew there was enemies around, spotting her hidden 'form' would be most likely seen as just paranoia.

"I'd be glad to meet again on this. Free of charge of course, a friend of Arrow is a friend of mine. I should say again that the exposure therapy can be stressful starting out. You probably won't be traumatized though; it will merely simulate violent situations, but it will create the same responses. It may start off with smaller subjects and work up to larger subjects of violence. Actually, the Earthlings brought in some new technology that we're using to help with this. Scientists in this field are actually testing out exposure therapy using virtual reality headsets. It would just be tests to see if it would invoke the same response and not be part of your actual therapy, they are looking for individuals with your issue to run tests on, they're paying very well for it actually. It would help to find other ways of treating things like this and other things too."

One of the nightwings who would help in the rescue showed them the entrances to the place Darkstalker was at.

"There are multiple ways in. Windows and doors mostly. Blowing holes into the walls is no go, we don't know where the Queen is within the place, we suspect in the lower levels possibly underground, but we cannot be certain. Spies were caught and killed pretty quickly because of Darkstalker's mindreading; it seems he still has that. Our good friend Arrow was able to use a spell to limit the range during that speech. Once we get into the castle, assume he can read your mind. Because of this, stealth is not an option. Poison gas was considered but deemed to risky to the Queen's safety. We have to act in a fast a manner to ensure the Queen makes it out alive. We'll split up into teams. Some will go after Darkstalker, others will go to Ruby, and others will kill every combatant in the castle. Another team will keep the civilians out of the area."

Then he made a joke.

"Now let's hurry up before the yankies find out they have oil."

"I'll keep that in mind.." Ember promised, though she wasn't really big on the idea of being a test-subject for technology, she also was doubtful it would help her, as finding out the triggers was one of the first things that had been done, and things that didn't feel real enough didn't do anything, sure they didn't have technology, but illusion magic was as good if not better. "Thanks again, this has given me things to think about."

"Doors will most likely be guarded, so if stealth isn't an option anyway, blasting through a window could be the best way in." Vix said thoughtfully, Cinder also added her thoughts "The dungeons would be the most logical place for Darkstalker to keep the Queen, but what little I know about him, I wouldn't be surprised if he kept her somewhere close to himself, like his personal quarters, in fact, as he seems the kind to enjoy manipulating others, he may even have her with him waiting for us." "I maybe can sense her when there, I can sense pain." Danthe had told that to Quasi already, but she now let everyone else know too. "Have you already planned the teams?"

for the joke, Cinder was the only one to laugh slightly, she was the only one who knew enough about Earth-things to understand the joke.

It was at this time a dragon came in to remind Placidus of something involving learning about the dragons of this world. He gave Ember a card before concluding everything.

"Teams are planned for the special forces but for us, we can figure out what to do whenever. I'll probably face Darkstalker I've got something that I can kill him with."

Ember waited until she was alone with Arrow before speaking "I'll probably need help with the idea I had, it's not really relevant at this moment, since I need to see my therapist first, but I want to know if you'd be willing to help?"

"We smaller creatures should probably go look for Ruby, while you bigger ones go deal with Darkstalker." Vix suggested "Danthe could point us into right direction and then join you, she may not be able to kill him, but she can work as distraction."  Danthe thought about it, and Cinder waited for any other inputs.

"I mentioned in there that what he said helped and that I could maybe deal with two problems at once." Ember explained "Well, without going in details, as I need to discuss them with the therapist first, I was thinking to combine my work and exposure, if it works as I think it would, I could finally take steps to retire, something that seems more and more necessarily in this escalating situation." her work wasn't done, but with two new worlds added to to the mix, she couldn't keep up. her time on the top was coming to an end "But I'll need your help because...well, as he said, it will be stressful, and I need someone to help me relax, and if everything goes well...I'll need a place to stay for short while."

"Sounds like a plan to me." Cinder agreed, Danthe just nodded "Guess it's yes then, no time to waste."

"Of course, I'd be glad to help you with that. I've got plenty of room. I found it odd living on my own after my time of active service. I mean, I guess I'm kinda active service still but, I'm in reserves now as you know. Might try my old job again, more local and more than just dragons. Maybe take on local threats in exchange for money from the government. Seems like a compromise between not having to lay down my weapons and staying in one house. It would be nice to have some company though."

Arrow wanted to ask something.

"I hope this isn't a bad time to ask but, I was thinking... would you like to be more than just friends? To be truthful, the amount of time we've been friends, my feelings have only increased. If that's not what you feel, I understand, you are your own and you have the right to say no I won't blame you for that and I can assure you, I can still be your friend if that's what you want."

Arrow wanted it to be clear that Ember didn't have to say yes. Sure, he had feelings for Ember but that didn't mean she should have to go down a path she didn't want. Arrow felt that if she really cared for her, he should let her make her own choice.

"Sorry, maybe it wasn't a good time to ask... I don't know, I was never good with this sort of thing. I'm sorry."

Ember was visibly surprised, but then turned thoughtful, she had also noticed...feelings, in herself, she wasn't sure when they first appeared, as she had been avoiding making emotional connections so long that she didn't remember what it felt like and thus hadn't paid attention to it at first, she had then started to doubt them, blaming them on the fact that Arrow was the first individual since her childhood that she would really call a friend, and thus she just overreacted, like someone getting a temporary crush on someone because they compliment them. But in these few days, she had came to realize there really may be something, that's why after her little cry session she tried to get closer to Arrow emotionally by trying to relate to him, it just had been an utter failure as she had failed to read Arrow correctly. 

"No need to apologize, I....yes." "I admit, the timing was unexpected, but that's no problem, I also...have feelings towards you." she looked to the side in awkward manner "I'm not good with these things either, I haven't really had a close relationship with anyone since....my first kill."

Cinder and Vix would fly with the others, Vix riding whoever took him on, meanwhile Danthe would run on the ground, keeping up with them some distance behind, she was faster than even Ruby due to her wings not slowing her down, and thanks to being infused with magic, she also could run longer than most. When they got close to area(s) with enemies, she slowed down a bit and magic started to flow out of her, from the air this was all that happened, but on the ground, the enemies didn't seem to be able to notice her, even when she clearly went from their field of view, at most they took a double take at the spot where Danthe was in, even possibly smelling her, yet they still seemed to be unable to notice her.

Quasi would lead a path with the least amount of enemies according to Intel. After a while, they'd stop on a large hill overlooking the castle.

"Looks well guarded. The they seem to not expect anything with the windows. Always the windows, I always have guards posted at those things Darkstalker seems to have not thought of that. Everyone ready?"

"To stay alone is to protect others from harm and grief." Ember stated "That is part of the reason why I want to leave the whole thing behind, It's a lonely life, and I have already passed my peak, it will be lot of work, but I think it will be possible."

Danthe would join the others on the hill with slight delay. 

"Don't get too careless, there still may be threats near the windows." Vix pointed out "Ready." the others would nod.

"You're worth it. Let us face this together. Whatever enemies you have, we will face them together. I love you."

Quasi would give orders and the soldiers would get to work on their tasks. Quasi would fly into a window and kill whoever was in the hallway, his soldiers that were with him would open fire upon any enemies.

Ember said almost carefully, it seemed she was lot less confident with this kind of thing "I need to face my demons alone but I hope you will be there to catch me." it was maybe a bit weird phrasing, but it was the first thing that came to mind  "it will be messy." she couldn't open any details yet since as stated, she had to discuss some details with her therapist first, but what she did know already was that ultimately she had to wipe the slate clean.

When they were close enough, Danthe stopped for a moment as her magic flared up, Vix asked if she was aright, and she just pointed to a direction and said Ruby might be there a small distance away, if they knew the layout of the castle, they would know it was the direction of the throne room, though not directly at the throne room, but slightly side from it, if layout was known, this was the direction of Darkstalker's private quarters, Danthe couldn't pinpoint the exact location, as the 'sense' worked similar to sense of smell, only telling her the direction when not right next to it, but it was safe to assume the quarters was their target due to what Cinder had mentioned just before the message had came, and the fact it wasn't underground.

After this, Danthe would climb the wall and join Quasi, meanwhile Vix and Cinder moved to a different window more to the direction where Danthe had pointed , and Cinder created a ladder using her crystal-magic-thing for Vix and any other non-flying small creature they may have had with them, after which the blasted through the window with magic and jumped in, making quick work of anyone nearby.

Sky and Myra would go with Quasi to find Darkstalker, this is what they were use to back when they worked for the U.S. government, going after enemies. To them, Darkstalker was just another terrorist leader that needed to be taken out. Soon they'd find Darkstalker's quarters.

"1... 2... 3... breach!"

Sky would use a small satchel with explosive powder to break the hinges and opening mechanism. It was lit with a fuse, so it definitely wasn't the advanced technology Sky was use to. In the room was Darkstalker in a twisted crown.

"Interesting, I was hoping you'd surrender to get Ruby back.  Though... perhaps you knew I wouldn't. I'm stronger, Quasi. I'm the true king of the nightwings. You? What are you? Right, a pretender. A pretender playing dress up. Democracy, what a joke. You're not a true nightwing. You're not even a true dragon. Your little independence movement in the rainforest? If someone were to brush against Quasi's scales or something, they'd feel buzzing in them, he was an animus. He wasn't before. This was the weapon he was going to use against Darkstalker.

"I enchant you to obey my every command."

"Do not speak unless I tell you to. Sit down. Now for an ironic ending...- no... I'm not like you, I will not follow in your footsteps and kill you like you killed your father. You will have a proper execution. I enchant Darkstalker to become mortal and his scales to become like those of a normal dragon of his tribe."

The animus magic was technically Darkstalker's that's why it was working. Some of Quasi's soldiers would bring in a nightwing with some sort of armor.

"I'm Darkstalker's general, I was next in line to rule in case Darkstalker became incapable or dead. He never counted on this happening. Only placed me in line to shut his advisors up. He rules with fear, everyone is afraid of him. He referred to his subjects as slaves while he was alone. He told his people he had animus magic still to make them bow to him. I knew he was lying but, he could easily kill me if I told anyone."
