What else from Gillian Berrow’s G4 chapter books can we expect to see in G5?

Despite many claims that claims G5 is an alt university due to lack of continuity (never mind G5 taking place god knows how many years after), it has shown the occasional shout-out to G5’s lead writer and story editor Gillian Berrow’s work on G4. Among those are giving a name to Celestia and Lina’s hometown, glowpaz (which also appeared in FIM later on), and more recently: a hidden toon in the Crystal Lighthouse much like Starlight Glimmer and the Secret Suite.

My thought? It would be Opaline returning, finding the Shadow Helm, and becoming Nightmare

What, no mention of The Isle of Scaly being a reference to a Daring Do book? But yes, I'd love to see more references like that. That nod to that Starlight Glimmer book in TYT took me by complete surprise. :Sunny-huh:

Woah, thanks for the reminder. I can’t possibly remember every single reference. Still, I’m still expecting Shadow Helm + Opaline :squee:. That’s final boss material :mlp_icwudt:

It looks like the upcoming comic book miniseries Set Your Sail might be borrowing, in part, from Berrow's chapterbook Rarity and the Curious Case of Charity and also from the picture book Under the Sparkling Sea by Mary Jane Begin.

Quote

Set your sail for the Seven Seas because the Seaponies are swimming into comics for the first time ever! See the Mane Six totally transformed. Pestering the queen into sending messages in bottles to the fabled Seapony kingdoms is just one of the many perks to having royal besties…which is exactly what Izzy has been doing ever since first reading about mythical Seaponies in Sunny's old history book. So when Queen Haven hears back from the Queen of the Sparkling Seas, Izzy is eager to dive into the adventure of a lifetime. Pipp, on the other hoof, is not excited about her princess duties or having to reschedule a new song release (plus, saltwater totally ruins her shiny mane). The voyage should be smooth sailing, but the tides are changing, a storm is brewing, and Izzy and Pipp are swimming right into it…

Although in the book it was the Isles of Scaly, an archipelago of islands. The Isle of the map does resemble the Dragon Lands from G4 (though that would place G5's Equestria quite a bit south of Celestia's kingdom).
