How to RP in the pony (world) with an OC.

So I looked at the Canterlot Avenue (and discovered that this place too seems to have RP areas) and tried to make a character, with some problems. 1: They asked for a place of origin for my character, though I only know roughly a few of the given areas and what they are like (ever free forest is my choice for a bat pony, though I don't know if that is where they actually reside in the world). 2: it asked for a pic, but not which kind. A rough pic of the character or it's race? A general pic that I like? Does it have to be MLP specific? I'm guessing I come into the character creation sheet after all those are answered?

Canterlot Avenue is the RP section of the Poniverse, see it more like a Facebook for ponies 

to answer your questions:

1. there are some maps you can look up and see where an area is located at, maybe it will make it easier for you to decide 

 

2. a profile picture that shows your pony would be recommended, just like a picture you’d use on Facebook or instagram or any other social media sites.

A little bit yeah. For the pick, how do I know if it isn't taken? Can it be a pic for a general idea of how my character would look?

Well, you should use a picture of YOUR Pony OC of course. There are also some artist out there that are more than happy to draw your Pony OC for you.

In case you don't want to request an artist, there's also an option to create it for free, like My little Pony: Pony Maker

Finally made an account on Canterlot Avenue and ready to RP! Only problem is...I don't know where to start. There are so many RP options on it that I do not know which one to start with. DND style compaigns, regular RP, a mix of the two? Also I could'nt make a bat pony art for my character, so I mad one as close as possible. Hopefully that won't be a problem right?
