Ok, so uh, simply put nightly question, where in the world could I possibly find a $2 bill? Used to see 'em around but not anymore, what happened to 'em?

My family had a few of those in the attic.  Very bizarre that they existed  I have a half-dollar coin.

I haven't seen one for a long time either but apparently you can get them at a bank.

Funny thing about these, is that they're considered worth a little more than their face value because of their collectability, but every year they decrease in value. The US Treasury determines bank note production partly based on circulation. Only 2 dollar hills hardly circulate because we're always hoarding them, meaning they have to make more than is really necessary. And the more of an item there is, the less its collective value.

I believe this is somewhat undermined however. Currency collecting is a bit of a niche activity, and the population grows fast enough that there will likely always be a "shortage". The treasury also has the incentive to encourage this collecting behavior, because no one is going to sell a 2 dollar bill for less than 2 dollars, and that sale is most likely going to be taxed, so the fed literally makes some money from making money!

As opposed to losing money over the production of pennies and nickels.

You can make a money order through your bank, but I think there's a minimum you have to ask for, and it takes at least 10 days or something? You can also just ask if they happen to have any, and you can do the same when at a till for change back at any grocer, though you may get a look.

My secret to curious currencies in the wild are icecream trucks. Grandparents have a tendency to dig out old bills and change for the kiddos. The icecream vendors are usually nore than happy to get rid of the oddities since they're not any easier for totaling and turning in the day's earnings. That's how I wound up with my first ever Ike dollar.
