What is the last fanfiction you read or listened to and what are your thoughts on it?

Last 3 fanfics I listened to were A Puppet To Her Fame, One, and The Friendship Test

 

These are all grimdark fanfics 

I thought A Puppet To Her Fame was very well written and descriptive and I could relate to all the abuse Octavia faced throughout her childhood. In the story, she is forced to play music and face torture. I thought the romance scene was a bit forced and I don't think the ending was necessarily bad but I think there was more that could have been done with it.

 

One was not as descriptive, but I think that helped with the theme of desolation and emptiness that the story takes place in. I don't want to spoil the ending (the cause of the deaths) but basically Twilight wakes up to find everyone dead and throughout the story she travels the isolated ghost town Ponyville has become without its residents searching for an answer as to what happened. I thought the ending was actually pretty good as it is basically what would have happened if she didnt do a certain thing in the official show. Again, I don't want to spoil the ending so I won't say what that thing is, you'll have to read it yourself.

 

The Friendship Test was the most gory of the stories. It was basically the Mane 6 being subjected to the torture games that Jigsaw would play on his victims. Except Jigsaw is Starlight Glimmer. There isn't much of a story to tell other than describing torture methods. And the ending line I thought was extremely corny. This is definitely the worst of the 3 that I read.

Jeez, must have been @Randimaxis's (very good) readings of Fallout Equestria, how long ago was that now?

I thought it was pretty darn cool, perhaps a bit too dark for my taste overall but Randi's stellar voice acting made it plenty enjoyable!
