TheElementOfCreavity 62 May 22 Share May 22 I had a family member create herself as a pony using this picrew: Pony Maker | Picrew - Create & Play Image Maker What should I call this new species? (I know there's a species similar to this one in the show, but this is a new species, and I need a name for it. I've decided that they're like the butterfly/faries of this world so have fun with it,) 2
Otaku-sempai 674 May 22 Share May 22 (edited) Flutter-pony? Are they pony-size? Small? Tiny? Is the reason that they have been unknown because they live in the Undiscovered West? Or maybe they're from the eastern continent, beyond Griffonstone. There is also a location called Kirin Grove, south of Dragon's Lair (the Dragon Lands). You can find it on the map for My Little Pony: The Movie or on the expanded map below: Edited May 22 by Otaku-sempai

They usually live in areas with lots of flowers since they're butterfly-based, but can live in areas without a lot of plants as long as there are a couple of flowers nearby. I guess they'd mainly live in the undiscovered west. You actually helped me make some backstory to the species; These guys are now some sort of cousins to the changlings, experiments who were left in the west for their safety. They've mixed with other breeds over time, though with travelers, some have left the undiscovered west to live in the outside world. Since they're now the cousins of the changlings, I'll call them flutterlings, based on your original name suggestion.
Otaku-sempai 674 May 22 Share May 22 (edited) Flutterlings sound great! Do they have there own unique magic or any shape-shifting abilities similar to Changelings? I've found that the Tails of Equestria tabletop role-playing game is useful for developing a description for a new race for Equestria. There's also the current My Little Pony Roleplaying Game from Renegade Game Studios, but that has much more complex rules by comparison and would require a lot more work. As an example, here is my Tails of Equestria version of the Adaba (from the Season 10 comics): Typical Abada Body: D6 Mind: D6 Charm: D6 Stamina: D12 Talents: Nimble (D6), Pick one appropriate Cutie Mark talent Quirks: Choose one Abada are intelligent creatures native to Farasi, the zebra lands far east of Equestria, across the Celestial Sea. They resemble tall, lean Unicorns with a curved horn on their foreheads and with a second horn on their muzzles. Colorful stripes mark their chests and upper legs while their tails resemble the tail of a donkey or boar. Abada have their own cutie-mark magic that gives them talents like great speed or the ability to communicate with plants. The Creatures on the far right are Farasi Kelpies. Quirks in ToE are basically disadvantages. A player-character starts out with at least one quirk (like an allergy, a fear, a temper, etc.), but giving the character an extra quirk will allow them to start with one extra talent. Yes, their powers align with emotions. However, instead of eating them, they manipulate them. Flutterlings either have Absolute Empathy: The ability to sense and understand the emotions and intentions of others at an intense and profound level or Persuasive Empathy: The ability to influence and manipulate the emotions and thoughts of others, persuading them to align with the character's desires or change their perspectives. Sometimes they have both, the Flutterlings usually have horns and fairy/butterfly wings, but due to mixed breeding, it can change, take the Flutterlings image from above. She's a mix of flutterling and batpony, hence why she has fangs and fluffy legs
Otaku-sempai 674 May 22 Share May 22 (edited) In game terms, I'd say that a Flutterling, at first level, should start with either one of the special talents (in addition to some other talent of their choosing) with the ability to choose to gain the other at a higher level. I'm guessing that Flutterlings generally do not have cutie marks and so do not normally gain Cutie Mark talents. Please correct me if I am mistaken! And if made a write up for Flutterlings, under what name would you like to be credited? Edited May 22 by Otaku-sempai

Otaku-sempai 674 May 22 Share May 22 (edited) Here you go! Post if you think there's a quirk that all Fllutterlings should possess and I'll revise this to reflect it. Flutterlings (created by IdkAmuseMe a.k.a. BurnoutArtist3000) Typical Flutterling Body: D6 Mind: D6 Charm: D6 Stamina: D12 Talents: Fly (D6), Choose one between Absolute Empathy*: (D6) or Persuasive Empathy** (D6), If applicable pick one appropriate Cutie Mark talent Quirks: Choose one Flutterlings are usually small in height but can be pony-sized. They usually live in areas with lots of flowers since they're butterfly-based, but can live in areas without a lot of plants as long as there are a couple of flowers nearby. Flutterlings live mainly live in the Undiscovered West. They are distant cousins to Changlings, experiments that were left in the West for their safety. They've mixed with other species over time, though with travelers, some have left the Undiscovered West to live in the outside world. Their powers align with emotions. However, instead of eating them, they manipulate them. Some Flutterlings have cutie marks if they have ponies in their bloodline. * New Talent: Absolute Empathy: The ability to sense and understand the emotions and intentions of others at an intense and profound level. Make a successful test of your Mind versus your opponent's Charm. ** New Talent: Persuasive Empathy: The ability to influence and manipulate the emotions and thoughts of others, persuading them to align with the character's desires or change their perspectives. Make a successful test of your Mind versus your opponent's Mind. Edited May 23 by Otaku-sempai
