Dr.RedundantPh.D 60 June 17, 2012 Share June 17, 2012 What do you think of an episode that was sort of the reverse of the Winter Wrap-Up? Instead of ending winter, they have to start it.

Tom 891 June 17, 2012 Share June 17, 2012 (edited) The beginning of summer, of course! Not that I want to split hairs or anything... but wouldn't it be the end of summer? But anyway, I wonder if they have to do that. Maybe the snow and cold air comes in from the Everfree and winter starts itself. Dr.RedundantPh.D 60 June 17, 2012 Author Share June 17, 2012 We already know how their seasons start except for winter. Spring is the winter wrap up, there's no real change needed for spring to summer since they're similar seasons, the beginning of fall seems to be the Running of the Leaves. I'd like to know how they transition from Autumn to Winter.
Pickin Stone 28 June 17, 2012 Share June 17, 2012 Love it. How does winter start? But anyway, I wonder if they have to do that. Maybe the snow and clod air comes in from the Everfree and winter starts itself. doubt it, remember they mention that the Everfree forest is the only place with natural weather, and i doubt it infects. I'd imagine they fill the sky with clouds to cool things off, night lasts longer and the sun is brought up further away. Then when it gets could enough the Pegasi start making it snow. Not true, in "Family Appreciation Day" the signs for the zap apples included storm clouds that formed naturally. But we won't know if winter is conjured by nature or by ponies for sure until we see it in the show. But your idea sounds good. I'd like to thank the MLP Vector Club for the images used in my avatar. Dr.RedundantPh.D 60 June 17, 2012 Author Share June 17, 2012 Maybe Winter just comes out of the Everfree forest at the same time each year, and in the episodes the ponies have to prepare for it. They would do things like harvesting and storing enough crops in time, helping the animals get ready for hibernation, sheparding the birds southward, and things like that. But I don't see the ponies being able to start winter on their own.

SoonVindicated 71 June 17, 2012 Share June 17, 2012 Heh, that's pretty interesting. Now you have me wondering if this is possible. We know that the Everfree Forest has it's own weather climate. So it might snow there normally, and this snow is harvested for the winter start up. Though it is quite dangerous in there, and I would imagine they might have to clear sections of the Everfree for this purpose. If this were even possible to show itself. Truth be told it's more than likely a task for Cloudsdale to generate snow and distribute it accordingly. Probably using specially designed clouds. Now that would be interesting to see. All the same, a winter start up is very good idea ^~^;.
Starshine 16,335 June 18, 2012 Share June 18, 2012 (edited) Let me get this shit straight Ponyville as a community was established by the Earth Ponies. So, to end their Winter they had to do everything by hooves to clean the snows and starting the Spring. As the years passed, this yearly activity had turned into a sort of celebration. Even when the Pegasi and the Unicorns started to move in Ponyville, they still had to do it by hooves, that's what called a Winter Wrap Up And when you're starting the Winter, all you had to do is providing the enough snow and winds. This is clearly the job for the Pegasi, not Earth Ponies. Therefore Ponyville as a Earth Pony community didn't had any parts in it. So no celebration. I do know that the Pegasi was involved in using their wings to steer away the clouds on Winter Wrap Up, thus using their own magic instead their hooves, but let us set those aside for now Edited June 18, 2012 by Dreamwalker

I didn't say that they should actually start the weather.
Starshine 16,335 June 18, 2012 Share June 18, 2012 By that logic, Spring as a season should be able to also coming out from Everfree, thus rendering Winter Wrap Up a moot.

MVC NVMXD JVRXD 2,406 June 18, 2012 Share June 18, 2012 I thought Winter was only wrapped up... It wasn't a legitimate season in Ponyville, rather some annoyance that you wake up to and promptly do away with. Or that's what it looked like, anyway. Starshine 16,335 June 18, 2012 Share June 18, 2012 Since when has there been logic behind the Everfree forest? Since when you said that Winter could easily 'walks out' from the Everfree, altering a good portion of the land from their weather. If the Pegasi did all the work in Winter Start Up, that's logical and acceptable But if the entire season simply just there because Everfree's influence over its own weather, what's stopping it in just Winter? Surely if the forest was able to gave a Winter out, surely it could also gave out a Spring season to Ponyville too

Surely if the forest was able to gave a Winter out, surely it could also gave out a Spring season to Ponyville too Rainbow Dash said that in the Everfree Forest, the clouds move by themselves. That means that winter could move itself out of the forest. We saw in the episode that the winter wrap up began spring by removing winter. The clouds cant remove themselves though because they aren't in the Everfree Forest anymore.
Starshine 16,335 June 18, 2012 Share June 18, 2012 The clouds cant move themselves though because they aren't in the Everfree Forest anymore. And apparently they can move quite far enough to cover the entirety of Ponyville to cause winter, even when you just said they can't move when they left the Everfree area.
