Connor was a little hesitant at first. He knew nothing about magic, and to be honest it made him really nervous. On the other hand, at least he would be useful, and if it would help free the prisoners he could get over his paranoia.

"Well it is a pill, a sort of drug. It is imbued with magic, and if it works, will cover you in a aura of flame. It won't hurt you, but any pony you fly into will have a sad day." Blaze said, he pulled out some of twilights chemistry equipment and set off to work.

 

"Morning Star, we are going to save celestia and the wielders of harmony, oh and Luna too." Blaze said.

Connors eyes widened and he began to shiver. Setting himself on fire?! This all seemed very extreme. He bagman to sweat and shake. This plan better work.

Blaze mixed some chemicals here and some chemicals there, he was very busy and pretty close to a breakthrough. After the chemicals were in pill form his horn began to glow. The pills became charged with magic energy and resonated with the ingredients inside the pills. "ok conner it is your time to shine!" Blaze levitated a pill in front of conner.

Connor began to shiver. He was unbeliveably scared to try this, but he knew it was for the greater good. He reluctantly picked up the pill and looked at it. Sweat tricked down his brow.

 

"right now? Won't I burn down the library?"

"Don't worry, I cast fire wards on the tree, nothing will happen." Blaze said matter-of-factly.

Connor didn't like this, but if there was even a chance to save Ranbow Dash and the others, it would be selfish of him to chicken out.

 

'what are you getting yourself into, setting yourself on fire to save your crush who barely even knows who you are.' he said to himself.

 

He used his free hoof to wipe the sweat from his brow.

At first nothing happened to connor "Darn it I was sure the formula was correct." All the sudden connors coat started glowing. "What in the name of celestia" Blaze said. Connor suddenly burst into flames, the flames were hot enough to feel all the way across the room. "YEAH THATS THE TICKET" Blaze said joyfully "How do you feel?" Blaze asked.

Connor was amazed. He felt.. Nothing! He half expected to turn to ash as soon as he swallowed the pill. He looked at his hoof that was fully engulfed in flame, his eyes widen and his jaw drops.

 

"I.. I feel fine."

" SUCCESS. With this we can combat the Darkhart Royal Guard with ease. I will begin mass producing immediately!" Blaze was very excited. " There is one problem though, I don't know exactly how long the effects will last. I will have to run some diagnostic tests. Do you mind me running some tests on you?" Blaze asked.

He doesn't know how long?! Connor had a mini panic attack. What if the fire would NEVER go out? He would have to stay in Isolation just to not kill anypony! He began to feel weak to the stomach. He looked up at the alicorn.

 

"well, you already set me on fire, we might as well finish this..." He said, sounding like he was about to barf at any second.

Blaze conducted a series of tests on connor. "After conducting a series of tests on you I have concluded that it will wear off, in three hours. This is a long time I know. So until then I will cast a fire ward on you. The ward will last until I dispel it and has no adverse side effects. The only thing is, you will glow until the drug wears off in three hours. But at least you won't kill anypony" Blaze pointed his horn at connor and stomped his front hoof. Immediately the fire dissipated but as expected Connor did have a glow to him.

Three hours. That shouldn't be too bad, right? Plus the flames have succeeded.

 

"So, what do we do now?"

"Well, Ive must begin research, we still don't know what dark hart castle looks like on the inside. Their must be some schematics to the Canterlot castle and Ven shouldn't have changed it too much from the original design. So any info would be helpful." Blaze said "As for my team we need to begin reinforcing the wards on the tree, and we should protect ponyville also."

Ivy found a few books and looked over at Blaze. "I've found one!" she called over. She start to looked at all the pathways and even hidden path ways. She looked at the book before grabbing other one, she looked down as it was in more detail. She carried on looking at the plans for the castle, ponies we're coming up to her as she told them what to do. Soon she had a small group of ponies all reading and researching,

Chaos walked into the room. "Hey, Blaze... I've located all of my gems, and it turns out two of them are at Darkhart Castle, and the other four are on the way there. So, giving me my own team is pretty much useless." Chaos grimanced. "I sure don't hope my sisters don't get hurt, but one never knows until it happens... at least other dimensions have them safe and sound." He began walking out. "I'm gonna... go think on this for a while. Maybe I will get some insight."
