MrBaman 13 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 My friend blacker is a brony. He has uploaded a few videos involving MLP, and I was wondering "what is so good about the show that makes it appeal to grown men?" So I decided to watch a few episodes to find out. At first I thought, "what am I doing?" but after a few episodes I just got more and more interested in the show and I didn't even notice. By the time I got the end of season 1 I knew that I had become a brony. And that's how babies are made.
irobern2857 95 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 you become a brony when you decide you personaly like the show and joining the herd is just a slogan for becomeing part of the bronyverse. if you particepate or not is up to you http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/usaf-r1018
GoneForeverBye 184 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 So... what about this one guy then? He is known to like MLP to a certain extent, yet dismays the title "brony" and refuses to call himself so. I think it would be fair for people if they do not want to adapt a title, so... uh... where was I going with this? Anyhow, I would just say that you're a brony when you decide you're a brony. Otherwise you can just say that you like MLP FiM, like that guy over there. 1 Who needs signatures? ...not me seriously, you're not supposed to see this. Flittershy 6 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 I agree with the "you're a brony when you take the title" idea. I also believe that there are many tiers of bronyism (it's a word, deal with it). Tier one is when you decide you like the show. Tier two is when you admit to someone else that you like the show. Tier three is when you become part of the larger brony community on a forum or such. Tier four is when you buy merchandise, advertise yourself as a brony, and start attempting to get others to watch it. I am tier four brony.

Captain Derp M.D. 159 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 I'd have to say that I think it's when you identify yourself as a brony and begin to act as such.
HomuraBL 851 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 I really don't agree with the whole accepting the title thing. The thing is, whats the point? When people say brony, as long as you are a fan of the show, if you call yourself a brony or not they are still probably including you. And also, how many people is it going to stop from calling you a brony even if you don't want them too. Even if you don't want to be called a brony because its a label. You still have the label of MLP fan. Which is actually the exact same thing. Either way you are labeled so you can't use that as an excuse. Slipstream 84 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 (edited) It was my understanding that "brony" was slang for a fan of the show (like "Trekkie" or "Avatard" before James Cameron took that from us :I) and "the herd" is the blanket term for the fan collective. Could be wrong, though. Edited July 17, 2012 by Slipstream
I used to be a stranger 7,993 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 "For some, the transition to believer is an immediate and recognizable event, while others it's a constantly ongoing process, which they only realize upon reflection. It's like travelling on a train from Paris to Berlin. At some point you will cross the border of France and Germany, and some may cross this border at night while they are sleeping and never fully pick up that they've crossed until it's explained to them by another passenger or glancing out the window and reading a roadsign. Whereas others will know when they cross the border because they can see the markpost through the day, and speed on past it."
Captain Derp M.D. 159 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 "the herd" is the blanket term for the fan collective. Could be wrong, though. We are Brony. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile. Forgive me. I'm a Trekkie as well, and I couldn't resist a Borg joke since you used the word collective.
