Warmobolt 1 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 (edited) This is just a general rant about the show and fandom in general from the point of a british Brony: I have discovered that the show isn't as popular over here as in america. To me, I think the show is really, really massive over there, as I have seen advertisements for the show and other stuff you have is just amazing! Now, I discovered the show is being broadcasted on Cartoon Networks' Boomerang channel over here, but it isn't. Let me explain: According to the MLP wiki, only season 1 has been fully shown and was stopped in march of this year, Even though series 2 has more than finished, we still don't have it! If people will discover the show without finding about it through the computer or other people, then the generation of new fans to the show are being effected. Now, I can understand the Brony audience are smart and would just download the episodes or watch them on youtube, but that is not the point, we need them out here properly and legit, there not even out on itunes! I think hasbro aren't putting a lot of work on advertising the show over here as much as they should. Now, I know there are other british bronys, but I feel that there arn't as many, I hope some guys here can prove me wrong! Titan Rising 2,156 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 It was aired on a cartoon network hosted channel? The reasons probably cause you guys dont get the hub network, even over here I dont think the hub comes on the basic cable channels so it probably costs them more money to try to air it over there on a different network. I dunno thats just my guess, I don't think it's necessarily because the population of fans is less dense

mintfreshAD 55 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 I'm a UK Brony too. I do wonder why there's not been more of a push into this market. Not only is there the Brony market ready and waiting, but I'm sure it could be the next big thing with young girls too, like Club Penguin or Moshi Monsters. I work in Asda, and I'm eternally disappointed in the continuing lack of the MLP blind bags. We had a few in for a while, but they've ot restocked in months. Come on Hasbro, crank the corporate machine! Get it shown on a more mainstream channel (going by my younger siblings, I don't think kids watch much Boomerang), get the merchandise out there, and get the adverts going! If you're happy and you know it you're unusual. But that doesn't mean it's not worth trying~
Thyflesh 35 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 Hey, I'm British . I agree boomerang NEVER shows them and this makes me sad. I disagree that most bronies are clever enough to download them. The internet part of the fandom is not the full fandom there are loads of people who don't go online much at all and are into the show. What I hate more is the lack of merch!!! Everything cost's loads to ship to the UK and I can't find anything here (although i got lucky enough to win a pony plush and only had to pay for shipping! )
Pencil J. Doodle 242 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 (edited) I'm a british brony myself, and i agree with you for the most part. The show really isn't popular over here, and if you don't use the internet, you'd probably have no idea that the show even exists. Of course, we have the first season on boomerang, but boomerang's target audience are young boys, and of course, young boys won't even consider watching anything MLP related. We have very little pony merchandise as well. I've only seen MLP dolls in certain stores, and we don't even have any of the DVD's sold here. And at least america has had bronies mentioned in the media, in british media, they never refer to bronies It's really sad, but hey, it's an american (technically canadian) thing Edited July 17, 2012 by Pencil J. The show really isn't popular over here, and if you don't use the internet, you'd probably have no idea that the show even exists. True, unfortunately. Still, at least those of us who DO have the internet have access to such a huge and vibrant fandom. Something like this wouldn't have been possible for a show ten years ago. Stuff like twitter, youtube, higher speed internet, and so on is what has really made all this possible. Of course, we have the first season on boomerang, but boomerang's target audience are young boys, and of course, young boys won't even consider watching anything MLP related. Happy to say I got my seven year old brother watching it! His favourite pony is Twilight Sparkle. I doubt that he talks about it at school much, but what the hay, it's a start, right? CaptainSalmon54 16 July 19, 2012 Share July 19, 2012 As much as I love Hasbro, they need to really promote MLP over in the UK. I'm sick of having to download episodes. 2 "Science has not yet taught us if madness is or is not the sublimity of the intelligence." -Edgar Allan Poe "It's a sin, my darlin', how I love you because I know our love can never be." Sketchy Pone 31 July 19, 2012 Share July 19, 2012 I actually know a few Bronies in real life. And today, while I was in Edinburgh, I walked past a guy who was wearing a "20% Cooler" hoodie. But yes, pretty much all the Bronies I know discovered it on the internet, and if it wasn't for the internet, I would never of considered watching the show. I've only ever seen MLP on Boomerang once.

Darth Fader 24 January 23, 2013 Share January 23, 2013 (edited) well hasbro dont rely have a foothold on british networks so some shows from the hub get shown here while others like transformers prime do technicly its not hasbros fault They do vaguely. The Hub is 50% owned by Discovery Communications Inc whom have operations in Western Europe and Specifically in the UK so I can't imagine it would be to difficult to take The Hub international. Otherwise there's always ITV PLC's CITV. Edited January 23, 2013 by ajm "Exit signs - they're on the way out aren't they?" "Velcro. What a rip-off!" An Old Head 4,816 January 24, 2013 Share January 24, 2013 (edited) I really, really don't mind how low-key it is here in the UK. In fact, I appreciate it in a way. It makes the times where you DO meet other Bronies, or go to a UK-based Brony convention, much more special and memorable. The message certainly does get around. There are three other Bronies at my school (possibly more that I don't know about), and several more who know about Bronies and don't have any issue with them. I've actually never once met a Brony hater in real life, nobody really seems to mind. (Actually, I should mention there being a pony based off Doctor Who, that's bound to get people into it.) I remember once chatting to an acceptive non-Brony about how there was so much fan art of the show. The guy sitting next to us asked what a Brony was, so I guess even the word Brony is unfamiliar to most people. Dashabel 381 February 28, 2013 Share February 28, 2013 (edited) British MLP lover and PROUD! To be honest, I'm glad that it's not all the rage here as it is in the US, it seems like MLP dominates a lot of the states at the moment! It feels much more special to us and something that is truly treasurable. And also, if it was more well known here, we might be a little more worried about people finding out about it - luckily a lot of my friends just accept that I like drawing colourful ponies, Yes, people would be like, OMG, My Little Pony isn't that soo babyish, but they don't know the new, AMAZING FiM, so they wouldn't understand. I have found out three more Bronies/Pegasisters in my area, the newest of which I must pluck up the courage to ask her after I saw her drawing Rainbow Dash in art class!! And, ooh, what's this about a UK Bronycon?? Tell me more! RainbowMuffin 3 March 1, 2013 Share March 1, 2013 I'm a British Brony/Pegasister too. Yeah it would be nice for the show to air more often over here so that I won't have to rely on Youtube all the time. But either way I can still watch it and that's really all that matters to me.
