Any Military-Knowledgable Bronies out there?

Hey, I'm writing a fic about an invasion of Equestria, and I want some info on military organization - things like are individual tanks in a platoon, or squad, and what rank are tank crewmembers, would a Luitenant ever be on the lines, etc. etc.

 

And don't worry - the USMC wind up being the good guys in the end, I don't believe you guys deserve a bad rep.

 

So I'm gonna need either someone from the military, or whether or not you're actually in it, just someone that knows a lot about it in a practical way

I believe I could chip in and assist you in this field. Having been exposed to military history since a young age and absorbing it like a sponge ever since, I think I'm fairly capable in this area of knowledge.

 

My familiarization with the United States rank structure is fairly less than that of other nationalities, but I do believe I can be of some use if the need arises.

 

I also served as a Royal Cadet for a good while and served in a few military bases in my time.

 

Feel free to ask me anything you need in PM, or what-have-you!

I was with you until you mentioned Marines. I know tanks and I know ranks. But I know Army ranks not Marine ranks. Big difference. Let me know if you decide you need some Army fellows working behind the scenes.

Wow! I'm impressed by all the offers here. I have to say, I'm afraid I can't use everyone so I'll just have to pick y'all with the most impressive credentials. And I have to say I'm kinda blown out of the water by Ol'Sarge, lol.

 

And New Calamity - I'm interested in your knowledge of military history, and I saw your page and I'm interested in how you listed "weaponry" as one of your interests. I'm coming at this originally from an engineering perspective, and this takes place a number of decades in the future where we're using things like ABL's, Hypersonic waverider scramjet-powered cruise missiles, rifles like the Steyr ACR, vehicles powered by "paper batteries" and probably even tanks carrying railguns. So it'll be nice to have someone else with interests in that field - and especially to discuss things like if "paper batteries" might carry enough charge to make railgun-equipped tanks feasible

And that military history will definitely be nice to have!

 

And Shadow Chaser, I've decided it's marines since it's an invasion of Equestria, and from wiki, it looks like things done on expeditions are handled by the marines rather than the army. But I'm not entirely sure about that, I'll go ahead and include everyone on the PM's, and then we can always include more peeps. I feel fairly safe since nobody here yet has a fimfic account, so it's very unlikely my ideas will get stolen

 

So I guess I'll say from here on out, anypony that hasn't posted yet: feel free to pipe in if you have some real expertise or experience, or just an obsessive amount of knowledge or aptitude. Otherwise... We already have enough help, lol ^^;

 

(But hey, if you're just dying to join, go ahead and post. I don't want to exclude peeps just because they weren't here first)

Well, I'm not in the military, and I don't know every last detail about everything, but I know about the USMC and the USAF. Sooooooooo.........yeah, I can't exactly help you compared to some of these guys.
