Nightfall sighed. "Wits, I don't know if she hired him or not. I'll need to ask her later." He opened the door and let Wits in. As the door closed behind them, all the men stopped what they were doing and stood at attention. "As you were," was all Nightfall said. They went back to training. Most of them were either lifting weights or jogging around the indoor track. Nightfall surveyed them all.

Does she know every private in the whole army? The soldier had to think. "Well, I'm sorry, my name is actually BUCK YOU!" and with that, he smashed the phone. From nowhere, an NLR soldier struck him and drove their blade through his chest, killing him quickly.

---------

Wits nodded. "Ugh. This training might be necessary, but it kind of drags on the mind. How are you doing? Finding that special somepony?"

not knowing what to do as he waited, Striker decided to go spar with a few of the solider's who were currently doing just that, Striker knew he would win but he always enjoyed a good fight here and there, he walked up to the pony's currently fighting in the ring and waited to join.

Two reserve brigades came marching, double-time, over the hills near Ponyville, swords drawn. This battle should be over quickly most of them thought. Others thought of their loved ones. Some thought of friends they were almost certain to meet on the field. They reached the outskirts of Ponyville in a matter of minutes.

Wits nodded. "Ugh. This training might be necessary, but it kind of drags on the mind. How are you doing? Finding that special somepony?"

Nightfall laughed. "Do you think I'd have time for that while commanding 1,000 ponies?"

He shook his head. "I'm doing just fine. You need to worry about getting a special story in the paper."

A guard came up behind Nightfall. "Sir, the Princess would like to see you."

Celestia's face was grim as Nightfall approached her, Wits not far behind. "Ponyville will be lost within the hour if we do not act. I am taking direct control of the situation. Gather 100 men. I am preparing a mass teleportation spell in 15 minutes. We are going to take the town back, with any means necessary. The sun will not fall on a capture Ponyville." With that, she dismissed them and began charging energy, the pentacles and symbols in her throne room assisting in the creation of the spell.

As they ran along, Wits said. "Well, there you go! Now we've got a way to go, and I don't even have to arrange for individual transportation!" He was particularly excited for someone about to go into the middle of a bloodbath.

General Daeva was there, too, giving Celestia strategic advice for her entry into the fray.

Striker had just flipped a soldier over and pinned him down when he saw the Nightfall and Wit's hurrying from the throne room, as he walked toward them he noticed the worried face's of the two, "What is going on now? And is it anything i can or should help with?" striker said.

Right before he was dismissed from the throne room, Nightfall noticed a very pretty pegasus general, whom he recognized as General Daeva. Wits had to pull Nightfall from the room. Outside of the room, he ran along with Wits.

"Wits, get ready for a battle of epic proportions..."

Two hours away, the nearest SE regiment closed in, quickly as possible, towards Ponyville. The militia was thinning, thinning away. The sun was high in the sky, near noon, and at it's highest point it eschewed all shadows, all darkness, all peace. The bloodletting was in pure daylight, and the militia was failing, failing quickly.

Celestia drew more and more power to herself. More than just her own internal abilities, she drew upon the harmony of a well-organized system, the level of bureaucracy, and the peace the she enforced in Canterlot. She was a god, and she had immense power. Nothing was going to stop her. Bureaucrats struggled to organize and prepare a hundred skilled ponies. It was moving fast, the well-oiled gears of the system preparing for all out war.

-------

Wits kept pace, but it wasn't easy. He was a reporter, dang it, not a soldier. His skills in metamagic had served him in duels, but he doubted he would be so lucky as to get a one-on-one battle with another pony. Still, he wasn't going to let something like running keep him from talking.

"You know," he gasped. "Fleur has a sister, almost as pretty as she is." He panted, then continued. "If you're interested, some time I could set you two up."

Nightfall chuckled as he ran. "You aren't used to running, eh? Better hurry up and get used to it..." He galloped several steps before talking again. "Fleur has a sister? Only hook me up if it happens to be Daeva." Nightfall laughed.

He slowed his pace as they reached the gym. Nightfall burst in.

"Men! I need the first 100 of you ready in five minutes! Meet up in the throne room! Hurry up, soldiers!" The first hundred men got into line and marched out quickly. Nightfall grabbed his saddle bag and threw it over him. After putting his sword on his back and jamming supplies neatly into his saddle bag, he motioned for Wits to follow him and started moving back towards the throne room.

Striker just finished fighting one of the soldier's as he pinned him to the ground, then he got up and started walking around again, he then heard a few rumor's of ponyville about to be captured, Striker knew that something was wrong and decided to go look for Nightfall, >where would i find him? i know the throne room!< Striker then started to gallop to the throne room.

The guard ponies were in a state of intense flux, and Striker managed to slip past them with relative ease.

Within the alloted time, the ponies were prepared in the throne room.

"Daeva, eh?" Wits said. "I might know a thing or two about a pony with that name. Big fancy general type. And a few... other details..."

Celestia cut him off, at that moment, because she completed her spell. She, Nightfall, Wits, Striker, and the prepared soldiers were instantaneously teleported to the battleground.

With a white bang, they appeared in the middle of Ponyville. Celestia began to glow. She emanated pure power, and her eyes glowed bright with fury and love. All ponies paused, a brief second, to take in her beauty and majesty. They had been born with a deep, inborn love for their goddess, and it was harder to remove than they knew.

"MY LITTLE PONIES." Her skill with the Royal Canterlot voice was quite high, having had thousands of years to perfect. "CEASE YOUR FIGHTING, AND YOU WILL BE SHOWN MERCY. IF YOU DO NOT STOP, YOU WILL DIE."

The sun stood still, the Solar Empire ponies drew into ranks, and there was a moment of horrible, horrible calm.

Several stopped and ran to Celestia, begging her for mercy. One received a knife to the back of the head for running. She crumpled to the ground and was grasping onto the fine strings of life she had left. An officer shouted out, "We are still a brigade and a half strong! You should be the one surrendering!" he turned to his ponies, "Urah!?"

"URAH!!!" sounded the entire brigade and a half.

"Prepare, men! Form a defensive line!" Nightfall began yelling commands. "Wits, Striker, get down!" A volley of NLR fire came raining down. "Soldiers! For Celestia! For the Solar Empire! Oorah!"

"Oorah!" was the only response the SE soldiers gave.

"Charge!" Nightfall lead the ponies in a desperate charge.

"Well this is just GREAT!" Striker said to Wit's, "I don't know about you but i think i am going to have some fun!" striker said laughing, as he got up a NLR soldier tried to slash him with his sword, Striker then dodged under the sword slid behind the soldier, and punched certain point's on the solider's body making the soldier drop his sword, but before the sword even touched the ground Striker caught it swung it and killed the pony in one blow, then before Striker left he took the solider's sword stabbed it in to the ground above the dead pony, and bowed to the dead pony through respect, all this took place in under 5 sec's, to Wit's who was standing right next to Striker it was a total blur until Striker bowed

After the defectors came, Celestia stamped, and a wall came up, a wall condensed out of sunlight. Bullets, arrows, ponies, magic all could not penetrate, and not even a Pegasi could fly over it. She took a step forward, the wall moved, too. Another step, another, and another...

"SO BE IT."

Celestia charged.

Wits' immediate response to being sent to a battlefield was to ran like Tartarus, and take cover inside a building, then immediately start snapping pictures. Hey, self-preservation is one thing, writing a good article is paramount.

Striker turned around and saw Wit's taking photo's >you got to be kidding me!< thought Striker, suddenly a NLR solider took a good pot shot that was going to hit Wit's, Striker jumped on to Wit's pushing him down on the ground and saving him, but Striker took the bullet to one of his wing's, "F***, God damn that hurt's every time!" Striker shouted

As Nightfall jumped over debris, his back left hoof was hit by Fine Tune's bullet. It flew out out and Nightfall fell to the ground. "Damn! Hit this early!" He got up and kept charging, using his wings this time. Shots flew passed, narrowly missing him. When he got to the NLR lines, he dropped to the ground and rolled. He pulled out his sword and swung at a soldier, only to have his swing blocked.

"URAH!!! Squad, do you see zhat officer (Nightfall)?"

A response came as a flurry of panicky looking around. Each riflepony determined to find said target. This was taking way too long. He needed a shot now.

"As you vere! concentrate on zhose reinforcements! Feuer frei!" he followed up. He was doing this himself.

With 'Lightning Grinder' flush into his shoulder, Fine Tune quickly lined up the telescopic sight ((this would be an old telescope but shorter, to fit in with the tech-level)). Well-practiced, well-aimed and even utilising the first-pressure on the trigger; the corporal fired a streamlined shot of steel from the breech. From what he could tell the shot was true, but the sight was off slightly, the round dropped that much too soon for a torso hit.

His shot was quickly followed by a hail of free-fired lead.

((Just pretend I have been doing something in the background))

Valiant arrived with his Line Infantry to support the Corporal's Marksman squad. "Form up on my right men!" "Aim!" "Fire!" A massive boom followed after the many men fired there guns. "Fix bayonets and charge!" "For Luna!" "FOR LUNA!" the men echoed as the ran towards the enemy troops.

Nightfall cut down one, now two men. But he saw more troops rushing at them. He knew he could not make it out alive if he didn't get out now. He slowly began to move backwards, never turning his back to the enemy.

"Fall back! Reform a defensive line!"

It looked like the enemy was about to charge but then some distant rifle shots deterred them from taken any such actions. "Alright men!" "Take aim.....FIRE!" The ominous boom once again sounded through out the battlefield and did quite some killing at this close of range. "Alright fix bayonets once again and charge!"
