gaming Hellz yeah, Malicious finally makes it to NA

For those who don't know, Malicious is a download only 3D action game for the PS3 (supposedly getting a Vita port as well but so far it's only TBA in Japan and nothing on an EU or NA release)

 

The game consists of 6 stages, each one containing one boss that is present at all times and literally an army of unlimited soldiers/enemies to aid the boss.

 

The point of the game is to merely beat the bosses of each stage but it's not as easy as it sounds because like I said: The boss is omnipresent throughout the arena-style levels. The smaller enemies are there merely as a way to distract you or hinder you while also allowing you to build up your Aura meter which you need to do stronger attacks or heal yourself. The boss enemies will have a lot of health and many strategies for you to figure out so you can beat them. When you beat a boss you can obtain a power from them.

 

In that sense it plays sort of like a Megaman game where you can pick whatever level you want, there's no specific path you have to take, but getting certain powers will help you against other bosses but they apparently get stronger as you advance through the game. Beat one boss, the other five become stronger, beat a second one and the remaining four are stronger still until you beat the last one at the highest difficulty.

 

This game takes the phrase "Epic Battle" and gives it a whole new meaning. Rather than have you playing through a level and getting to the boss, the boss is the level. You have a 30 minute time limit to beat the boss and believe me, that time is needed. The bosses will take a LONG time to kill as this is the bulk of the game. They are the main feature of the game, fighting them and their minions.

I played this game for a little bit when a friend and I game traded between PS3s. He had gotten it off of the JPN store and I had wanted to play it. It is definitely an epic game. For those who may ask "is that all the game is?" yes, it is. It's meant to be played in an arcade sort of fashion where it can be played over and over, learning new strategies, getting the powers in different orders so you can take out the bosses with different strategies and abilities. Finding the most efficient way or just doing it for pure and epic fun, your choice!

 

I'm definitely getting this game, it's $10 on PSN in NA, likely similarly priced in EU.

Why did I read this as Malicious finally makes it to the NBA.

I read it and went why would I care if some crazy named guy made it into basketball?

 

Anyway they game looks like it'd be right up my alley, might need to look into it when im back.

Yeah, the game is pretty sweet in Japanese. The game can easily be played that way since it's not story heavy and once you understand the controls you can just play through the game but it will be amazing to play it in English finally.

 

Pure action, that's all this game is.
