Rarietty 632 August 14, 2012 Share August 14, 2012 (edited) I'm a young lady who typically enjoys animation, whether it's a CGI film, traditional hand drawn animation, modern day western cartoons or anime, which was why I was drawn towards the show. I don't think I fit the Brony (not Pegisister ) stereotype at all. I don't cross over my internet obsessions to the real world, and I hate it when people think that the show is a big deal. For example, a Brony making a big deal about wanted to "come-out" to parents about watching the show. One, it's a cartoon. Two, your parents shouldn't be upset because you enjoy cartoons. You're not anymore of a Brony if you obsess about the show in real life and force it on your friends who don't watch the show than someone who watches and enjoys the show in secret. You don't have to wear MLP t-shirts, be an amazing artist, go to cons or quote the show in real life to be a Brony. TL;DR, everyone who likes the show is a Brony (even if they only watch the show and don't participate with the fandom) and all Bronies are equal. SugarSprinkledFox 69 August 14, 2012 Share August 14, 2012 (edited) Bronies are a group of people 13+ that are fans of the childrens show My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Being labeled a brony is a choice and you can simply like the show without being a part of the fandom. As every fandom has, they have a darker side to the fandom. The darker side is nothing but porn and grimdark (gore) of the characters. There is nothing wrong with liking porn of anything and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, because they are wrong. A brony can be anyone. Poor or rich, tall or short, young or old, fat or skinny. You should not and cannot judge someone who is a brony because they could be anyone. As for me, I'm just a 14 year old that watches MLP. TL;DR, everyone who likes the show is a Brony (even if they only watch the show and don't participate with the fandom) and all Bronies are equal. I disagree, you CAN like MLP: FIM without being a brony. Being a brony is a choice. Just like being a furry is a choice. ....I could have just misunderstood that though. Just like being a furry is a choice. ....I could have just misunderstood that though. I believe a Brony is someone who enjoys the show. They may not identify with the fandom or call themselves Bronies, but they still like the show. Technical definition of Brony: Someone who is a fan of MLP. It doesn't have anything to do with gender or age or fandom involvement. http://www.internets...-definition.asp Of course, your definition may differ, but that's what I believe a Brony is. I probably should have reworded that less harshly. I mean, a Brony is whatever you want a Brony can be. If you watch the show but you don't want to call yourself a Brony, that's fine with me. I'll still group you with Bronies though and so will most other people. And technically, the word "Brony" represents the fandom as a whole. If you hate one part of the fandom (for example, the people on EQD or 4chan) you technically don't hate Bronies as you don't hate everyone in the fandom, just a group of people. You can't judge thousands of people based on a couple dozen rotten eggs. Edited August 14, 2012 by Rarietty
Arcanel 3,041 August 14, 2012 Share August 14, 2012 What is a brony?...Someone who likes the show, can support said fanatism, and call himself so. That's about it. I don't think there should be anything else, because that's just taking away freedom to take away what YOU would like to say about your grade of fanatism over it. I know a guy who likes the show, but absolutely HATES the bronies, and he'd probably die before calling himself so. So, is liking the show ALONE make you a brony? No. All else needed is yourself recognizing yourself as a brony, and tell stuff that only someone liking the show would know ( and I mean of the show, not stuff we catch that are things we fans can tell from almost exhaustive search. You don't even need to get the references or so). There really shouldn't be something else in that regard. It wouldn't be fair if there was. I don't know, but most of them piss me off. Especially the community of Equestria Daily. Can't I just be a guy who likes FiM without being called a brony? Eh, most people will call you a brony the moment you tell them you like the show, so it's a bit unavoidable, but honestly, just let them. If needed, just say you are not a brony and be on your merry way. If you get pissed off just by people calling you a brony, then that's something to control. You may not like it, but it's not something to be upset, given how you're not exactly way off the adjective, you know? Also, how do bronies piss you off and those in Equestria Daily? I haven't spoken to a BIG number of them, but most of them seemed fine to me, to tell the truth. 1 My OC Arcanel: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/arcanel-r2118 My OC Xiomara: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/xiomara-r5412 ~Member of the Great Pony Analyzers~
