How does the continuity work?

I had a question about the continuity within the show. Does the show have a continuous continuity, meaning the characters have aged a year or two since the series started? Or is it going to go on with the characters perpetually at the ages they are now?

Probably they will stay the same age during the show, but if pony logic was real it would have passed up to a few months in my guess. So they just stay the same age unless they make a sequel to the series.

I'm guessing they are going to remain the same age in the show. However we don't know how ponies age in Equestria. They could age every 2 normal years. I don't know, I dislike over thinking things.

I mean, how it is totally Summer/Spring with no sign of snow, and then in the next episode, it's the end of Winter?

 

But it's most likely the same age throughout the show (unless it's a birthday episode, in which case, they obviously age a year.)

Yeah i would guess that they don't age or I haven't at least noticed it in the show. They might make a sequel like Rugrats All Grown Up, but i highly doubt it.

I don't think there will be any significant sign of ageing in the show. I think as long as the show will be made the CMC will always be fillies (barring a 'future CMC' episode of some sort) and the Mane 6 shall stay relatively around the same age.

I highly doubt they would age the characters in the show. That would only create problems if they show went on for very long.

I actually disagree with the current consensus. As they are definitely getting more powerful and gaining experience it makes a lot more sense that they age. Thing is even if this ran 12 season, it wouldnt be enough to really see much change in the mane 6. It WOULD allow the cutie mark crusaders to grow up though. I mean really -- wouldnt it be better for them to grow up over the next several seasons than stay perpetually young?
