Outlet for Writing Help

I wasn't entirely sure where to place this; it could go in Life Advice. However, because it pertains to MLP creative works I figured it would be best in Octavia's Hall. I'm in an interesting predicament that I need some help with. Specifically, I want to find an outlet for an analysis of MLP I wrote that I'm struggling to find a place for. I turn to the forums simply because I'm out of ideas.

A couple months ago I finished my first creative MLP piece that I had been working on since March. My paranoia/academic vanity prevents me from giving the specifics of what it was about (I really do worry about the idea being stolen), but basically I wrote a 6000 word (20 double spaced pages) essay on how certain philosophical concepts show up in MLP. When I finished it, I originally intended to submit it to a website called Brony Scholars, which was designed to publish "pseudo-scholarly perspectives on MLP:FiM". Unfortunately, that website went on indefinite hiatus at about the same time. I contacted the administrator for advice, but his life has been busy and he's trying to get his own projects working and seems to be a bit overwhelmed. With that avenue probably down, I am curious if anyone knows of another website that would consider publishing my work or has any other sort of advice.

I've considered three alternatives, but there are problems with each.

*I contemplated sending my essay to overthinkingit.com. They would certainly be interested in this sort of material, as their name implies. The problem is that they only accept relatively short (1000-2000 word) articles, and I don't know if I can cut my work to a third its current size.

*I don't really want to submit it to Equestria Daily directly. EqD doesn't deal with this sort of thing. I imagine the reaction they would give me would be "What are we supposed to do with this?" While I wouldn't mind getting my work on EqD, the website's usual policy is to post links to another website that contains a long work.

*Sorry, but I don't entirely like the idea of putting my work on these forums (at least to start). I'm sure most would receive it well, but I've spent a lot of time writing my essay and a forum just doesn't sound like the best venue. Were it not for the 100 character limit many responses would just be "tl;dr".

I'm sorry I have to consult people about this, but I just don't know what to do. Now a serious deadline is approaching: Season Three. The premier episode could ruin several pages of argument if the canon-verse suddenly changes. Sorry if this is very hard to think about, I just need help. So please give any ideas you have on any sort of outlet for this piece of writing.

I would say FIM fiction but I dont think that would work here... Other than that I would say EqD but since that wont work im sorry for ya.

In all honesty if you wrote that much on the subject I would try EqD you worked hard to make that and you should work hard to get it featured on that sight. 20 pages is alot and that only means you should try harder to get it published on a sight alot of bronies know about!

See, I'm Greed. I want everything you can think of. Money and women, power and SEX. I want everything this world's selling! and immortality's topping the list!

Thanks for the support!

I'm considering putting it on Scribd.com and then sending a link to the paper to EqD. That's probably my best option. I'll probably commission some cover art on the forums.

By the way, the subject of the paper is Plato and MLP. I'm not the first to point out the connection, but I'm pretty sure that I'm the most thorough.

EDIT:

I hate to keep demanding help, but I need it again, this time will finding a place to request (or commission) cover art. I'm not too well versed with the Brony art community. The forum's commission threads are almost entirely for OCs and wallpapers. There may be some people on DA who can draw requested art on short notice for negligible prices (if not free), but I don't know where to find such people. I have no opinion on what style of art/method of production should be used. I'll provide more specific instructions upon finding a source. Anyone know of artists?

i'd do it for free depending on how much you're asking for to be done... I do a lot of OC work and some other stuff, so what do you have in mind?

  • 2 weeks later...

and people rant at ME for over analysing the show...

though unlike them I do appreciate a well thought out essay.

no such thing as over analysing. Just under-analysing.

Wanton ignorance requires much crotch kicking. I shall read this after I sleep like a dead guy (only bein alive)

It's not a saying to go by in the first place. It was a name to a method of flame warring that was used in the early brony 4chan wars.To love and tolerate is to be non-conflicting and act passive-aggressive so that the hater cannot latch on to anything to retaliate with.

The love is the sword. you attack with talks of hugs and friendship. As if they were hurtful.

The tolerance is the shield. you ignore whatever the hater says.
