gaming Team Fortress 2 Pony counterparts

I'm not sure if there's already an topic about this. If there is, I'm very sorry, and feel free to alert a mod right away.

 

I've been recently seeing a lot of voice-overs, skins, Garry's Mod videos and whatnot about the MLPxTF2 thingy. I'm not anyhow against this sort of comparison, and in fact I find it pretty interesting. Feel free to express your own opinions on it though.

 

Anyway, I wanted to know if there's some kind of official mod or rule about the pony counterparts for each class, and I want to hear about your thoughts about them as well. For me, the one I've seen the most and the one that makes more sense in my opinion, is the following:

Scout = Rainbow Dash

Fast, athletic, kind of a bragger sometimes. Seems to be the most obvious one.

 

Soldier = Spike

I really have no idea... Probably because they ran out of characters to compare.

 

Pyro = Pinkie Pie

I think this comes from the many fanfics and creepy pastas about Pinkie being a psychopath. That's all I can think of.

 

Demoman = Zecora

Something about their accent is similar. Also, Zecora resembles an african character, which are usually dark-skinned, which Demoman is. So yeah...

 

Heavy = Big Macintosh

Bulky, strong and uh... That's it... :|

 

Engineer = Applejack

Country-side characters, with the typical use of a few key words (howdy, pardner, etc.). Again, very legit in my opinion.

 

Medic = Fluttershy

Not sure at all... Maybe Fluttershy is kind enough to heal her teammates? But still, I don't see many similar characteristics to Medic at all.

 

Sniper = Twilight

I'm honestly not sure... Perhaps because of that one Twilight's line during Episode 8 of Season 1: "Does this count as camping?"

 

Spy = Rarity

Both fancy and elegant, seeming to be (or wanting to be) part of the high-society. Rarity has a kind of a french accent too.

Sorry if I wasn't very clear. I'm not actually making a mod or anything. Just wanted to share some ideas with everyone about these counterparts and show my opinion as well.

 

But there are already a lot of mods about it all over the internet. I don't have much information on them, but you could search for them on Google, or even Youtube... Shouldn't be hard at all.

Aha thats cool i argree on mostly everything! Though your right fluttershy is hard to place... I think maybe medic would suit her or we make up a new class which sends in animals to attack! Hehe

Pretty cool, I agree with the things. I could think of some other reasons for a couple of them, like Twilight being a perfectionist, and snipers tend to be perfect.

I'll jump in on this one.

 

Several of the preconceptions of which pony will be what are helped in this video from earlier on in the fandom:

 

 

As you pointed out, Scout Dash, Spy Rarity and Engineer Applejack just fit correctly. Sniper Twi was for two reasons, in my opinion: The above video, and the ease of drawing a pony that could use a sniper rifle with magic instead of holding it manually.

 

Pyro Pinkie has become pretty popular after the release of "Meet The Pyro", mainly because of how Pyro's visual filter is shown. I always thought of Pinkie as Heavy, myself.

 

Fluttermedic always fit in my head because it's shown several times in the show that she treats various injuries on different animals. Doesn't leave much room for her to be anything else.

 

I'm not sure why Zecora is Demo. Could be as simple as "Zecora is a witch doctor of sorts, which doctors are depicted as black, Demo is black" line of thinking, could be that the artist just wanted to use a better known background pony. Dunno on that one.

Big Macintosh would be ideal as Heavy Weapons Guy because

Yes he is strong- the gun also weighs 150 kilograms (330 pounds), so his strength would be important to make that work.

Both Heavy and Mac are touted to be quiet giants, but everyone sees HWG in-game as being very rambunctious and loud. This is because Heavy is not in his normal element in-game: he's having the time of his life and also gone slightly crazy, so that explains why he's so outspoken. Big Macintosh has already been shown to be more outspoken when he's angry, so there's that.
