Derpy Hooves vs. Ditzy Doo

I use Derpy Hooves more because everyone calls her that and I just did too. But I love Ditzy Doo. I consider Ditzy Doo her actual name (and in most fanfiction) Derpy Hooves the name ponies came up to tease her with.

Everpony loves an underdog. The fandom has adopted Derpy and made her not only a REAL character not just a background pony. But has given her the role of a single Mother who works hard every day as a Mail Mare and loves her Daughter to pieces. (IMO this shows the sheer depth and love our Fanbase has for the show, something that is being lost as the years go on, but at least this remains).

 

 

Bottom line, Derpy Hooves works. We have Daring Doo, fans have already called foul on if her name wasnt Derpy and was Ditzy instead, then wouldnt she be related to the Author/Adventure Mare? (This is assuming the lack of repeat "last names", note all the "Pies" and "Apples" are all related without question, in this ideal then all the "Doos" are related as well)

 

I prefer Derpy. She will always be Derpy to me, If they changed her name tomorrow I wouldnt care. She Is Derpy Hooves. We found her, we named her, we forced her into the real world (out of the background) and we have to take care of her. She is our creation from a mistake after all. It is our responsibility.

I think it's cuter than Ditzy Doo, but they're both nice, I just prefer Derpy!

 

Now, I didn't know this (but let me know if you did!), but they actually addressed Derpy as Ditzy Doo in Winter Wrap Up, it blew my mind when I first heard it the other day.

 

Literally though, I never knew about it until the other day.
