Toughbrony20 24 September 7, 2012 Share September 7, 2012 When people think of bronies, do they usually think of grown men that enjoy the show? Because just the other day I read that it usually consists of 20-30 year old men who enjoy the show, But last time I checked I'm barely 17! Can someone enlighten me as to why us bronies are seen as grown men?!
Bohtty 1,775 September 7, 2012 Share September 7, 2012 Seventeen years old is just one year shy away from eighteen which is the legal age for adults. The average brony was initially adults, but a lot of much younger kids have jumped on the band wagon. I think the average range as slide down to 17 - 21 years old. Legit signature made by Shift. Ashbad 969 September 7, 2012 Share September 7, 2012 The age groups are very mixed; you have 10 year old bronies, you have 60 year old bronies. It'd be terribly hard to get a good median or mean for the entire population, since MLPForums has far less than 10% of the brony community represented on it (it's estimated there are at least half a million bronies out there), and a lot of the community are likely closet bronies. I'd assume an age somewhere 20 to 25 would likely be a good median age set. It'd be interesting to see a formal statistical data gathering and analysis using a large sample size including anonymous closet bronies, MLPForums members, EqD frequenters, FimFiction writers, dA artist bronies, 4chan "ponyfags", Ponychan "ponychanners", and many others. Some interesting variables to poll would be Age, Gender, Sexual Orientation (perhaps to prove/debunk statements that the brony community houses many LGBTQ oriented people), Clop Status (how many people clop), Clop Opinion (to prove/debunk statements that bronies are intolerant of cloppers on average), favorite pony, opinion on Fanon Elements (some people hate non-canon parts of the show), etc. 1 What has fanfiction has Ashbad written lately? We should totally find out by clicking this link. (Protip, turn on "Show Mature" to see more)
RarityBestPony 54 September 7, 2012 Share September 7, 2012 i think its because, when people first hear of a brony its more shocking if they're 20-30. because at that they age they go to college, play war games, drink alcohol, etc. when on the other hand, its slightly less shocking if you hear that a 12-18 year likes the show, because at that age alot of us still love cartoons. but i think the main brony community is comprised of mostly men aged from 13-28. silvadel 1,393 September 7, 2012 Share September 7, 2012 Actually I am guessing that the brony community ranges a little higher than that. Here it starts to fall off a lot above 30 years old, but I think a lot of those anonymous birthdays are people who consider it a minus in the community to do a reveal that their age is above the central range of the community. And if even half of the anons are outside the normal range, the normal range would be a lot larger. At any rate I am guessing a disproportionate number of anony-age bronies are above 27 or below 17. Abstract 832 September 7, 2012 Share September 7, 2012 I do hear most bronies being of college age like myself, but I seem to see a lot more younger members of the fandom. I would suppose it started off with mostly late teens -early 20's fans, but has spread to upper and lower age groups from there. I would almost say the average age of a brony is somewhere between 15-18 years old now. "Let the steel of my resolve be not bested by the sum of my fears." AegisReflector 886 September 7, 2012 Share September 7, 2012 I know many Bronies that are 20+ years old, so I'd say it's generally widespread when it comes to age difference. As it should. It's a phenomenon!

Can someone enlighten me as to why us bronies are seen as grown men?! the biggest age group that watch it is the 18-21 i think and the second biggest 22-25 so that sound's accurate i think younger people are more about being open with it so the hide it more hence less people are recognised as bronies of that age! Toughbrony20 24 September 7, 2012 Author Share September 7, 2012 It's also believed that once the show stops production, more than 70% of the fandom won't care for it anymore, even though I know for a fact I won't be part of that percentage
Dusty Soul 2,611 September 7, 2012 Share September 7, 2012 For me it's age 14 and up... Just because for me 20 seems too old to just begin being a brony, and 13 sounds too young to begin being a brony... So I think 14 sounds about right.
