Autumn Skies 49 September 22, 2012 Share September 22, 2012 Going to r/cringe on reddit and finding the brony-related videos. I know this may sound like a pretty negative thing to say, but I indeed cringe when I see the videos and pictures. I understand that some bronies are passionate as heck when it comes to the show, but some just take it way too far. And it's not just r/cringe where I've seen bronies doing cringe-worthy things. Forgive me if some of you do not like what I've typed out here, but this is just how I see things. I wouldn't exactly call myself a brony most of the time anyway. Speaking of which, I don't see why we must label ourselves as such and can't just be "fans of Friendship is Magic".
NewCalamity 3,454 September 22, 2012 Share September 22, 2012 This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner. This is an automatically generated message, by the way. Ob's stürmt oder schneit. | Whether it storms or snows. Starshine 16,333 September 22, 2012 Share September 22, 2012 Was writing my reply, but the thread got moved, have to re-type. Oh well I understand that some bronies are passionate as heck when it comes to the show, but some just take it way too far. For every sane man on Earth, we will have at least three insane ones. It also applies to bronies. Their lifestyle are theirs, and their choice alone. The best we can do is to leave them be and move on
Pinkazoid 3,493 September 22, 2012 Share September 22, 2012 Well, there's many fan names to those who're fans of a show, so why can't we do the same? I don't want to type "Oh, I'm a fan of My little Pony Friendship Is magic too" everytime I find myself an occasion to say it. And every large fandom has those things, why can't we? 1 :
Arcanel 3,041 September 22, 2012 Share September 22, 2012 Going to r/cringe on reddit and finding the brony-related videos. Speaking of which, I don't see why we must label ourselves as such and can't just be "fans of Friendship is Magic". Well, in here, to me, being a brony is something you label yourself, and not something you gain. You don't gain a label like that. At the most least, if you consider yourself a brony, you should have seen the whole show, and defend yourself on a normal way if questioned. That's it. After that, you can choose whether you consider yourself a brony or not (although I'm not sure if it applies to those who are REALLY obssesed with the show). But anyway, like Pinkazoid the Cat said, every fandom ever has this names. Why are fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender called Benders? Why are Doctor Who fans called Whovians? Why are Star Trek fans called Trekkies? And so on and on. It shortens the thing, and when you hear it or pronounce it, you can make people around you know, that you like said show. If you don't wish to do so, then don't. Pure and simple. Also, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by cringeworthy, considering, I don't what would YOU consider cringeworthy . But every fandom has fans that, well, take it to the next level. If you were in any other fandom, you'd probably be asking yourself the same question again, only for that fandom in question. Though I think people get slightly more...say...weirded out with bronies because they think we are in another level of...er...being calm, mild, etc. But we aren't. We're fans just like any other. There shouldn't be a difference because of that. We already get difference enough between non-bronies and bronies because we like something that, stereotypically speaking, we shouldn't even touch. I don't think we should broaden said line if some start considering us like we should be saints or something like that. That would be worse, start another sterotype and BOOM! We have ourselves with more problems. Solution? If people treat us like any other, we'll all be happy . 1 My OC Arcanel: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/arcanel-r2118 My OC Xiomara: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/xiomara-r5412 ~Member of the Great Pony Analyzers~

I don't like it when people get this far, posting ponies on a website that everyone knows just to spread the fandom. As for how we get called, bronies leaves it up pretty well, just like otakus, fans of anime. It's better to leave it in 1 word instead of 3 or 4, just because it's more comfortable. Creamy Arty 6,252 September 22, 2012 Share September 22, 2012 "Brony" is much easier to say. I'd rather not have to speak an entire sentence where one word will suffice. It's not a big deal. And the brony fandom isn't the only one I've seen doing extremely cringe-worthy things. Anything involving large groups of humans will have things like that. I don't look at much beyond the standard MLP subreddits and /r/pics. Most of my time is spent on /r/mylittlepony, MLPLounge, mylittleandysonic1, mylittleFriends, and mylittlelistentothis. Evilshy 5,090 September 22, 2012 Share September 22, 2012 (edited) If you want to get all technical, I see "Brony" as a term for somebody who is part of the community, not merely a fan. For example, I love Avatar: The Last Airbender, but I don't go on any ATLAB forums or fansites or anything, I just watch it with friends now and then and occasionally chat about it when it comes up on other forums. So while I am a fan of ATLAB, I'm not part of the community, and wouldn't refer to myself as Bender or whatever. I spend a lot of time on this, a site dedicated to MLP, and used to use MLP sections of GameFAQs and 4chan. I really enjoy the community (well, most of it), and am proud to say that I am a brony. And to address the actual topic of the thread, yes, I do occasionally see bronies going over-the-top, but I don't fault them for it. They're just much bigger fans than I am, and while it is a bit weird, it's nothing bad, as long as they're not annoying as hell while they do it. That's how I see it, anyway. Bendy 1,821 September 22, 2012 Share September 22, 2012 (edited) Every fandom has those fanatical fans like me. So why should the Bronies be any different? For I am a Futurama Nerdlinger (I have about 80 fan fiction and 291 fan art on the Futurama Madhouse) I am the lowest of the low, none of you can even grasp the nature of my nerdness, and I waste my life even more with this whole Brony thing I've jumped into.
