Is this an improvement?

I could tear my earlier tilesets apart if people wanna ask, but I think this speaks for itself. There was a lot about making game tiles that I didn't really know about when I made the first set of tiles. Namely... more detailed does not mean better. If it doesn't look nice without details, adding details won't do any justice.

Actually the second is more impressive mainly because of how the lines are not vertical and not even all straight. Most tile based pictures tend to look like the top one -- where it is all bricks and such that conform well to rectangles. The fact that you have hardly a single rectangle in the second picture makes it look unique.

You never fail to amaze me. I ADORE your art, and you are a fantastic artist. A couple of things bother me. THe rug doesn't look natural, and Derpy juts out unnatural, but it is pretty much negligible, all things considered.

Yes, derpy sticks out because she is a pony, and ponies are intractable characters in the game. The dark outline that makes her stand out from the background serves to make our ponies visible on any background. I also went for a dark outline color to be used on any pony partially because I'm lazy, and I find that it makes ponies belong to each other a bit more, to have a more unified look.

I once went outlineless for a low-bit styled game, and it was a headache when I had ponies blending into backgrounds.

The second one is an absolute improvement. It is simply more appealing to the eye, in my opinion. The first one seems like one of those Swiss homes that I'm not so fond of for their bland look. The second is colourful and set-up nicely with everything in place.

I'm sure many people have told you this before but, I am very taken with your revision, it fits more organically with the setting and the character. You, went from a cookie cutter type of room placement into a very simplistic, yet vibrant setting with a ton of personality. Well done!
