Suggestion: Uploading pictures from phone to post

The title basically explains it. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Facebook, but I was under the impression that I could post a picture in a forum post from my phone, and I don't think that there is a way to do that. I think that it would be nice. I know some forums allow you to attach a picture from your computer to a post without having to go to Photobucket or Imageshack to host it, so I don't think that this would be an impossible feature to have for the mobile site through your phone.

Think about it? :)

This vastly depends on the type of phone you have. If it's an iPhone, iOS (its operating system) with it's most recent update (6.0.0) made it possible to upload pictures from the device's photo library, straight to a browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.). So if you have an iPhone, you can already do this by selecting "Upload files" from the post tab.

I'm not an expert on Android, Samsung, etc., so if you don't have an iPhone, I'm not sure what to say from there.

My journey in the fandom started on April 5, 2012. I joined here on April 24, 2012. Where that journey is headed now, who knows...

Yeah no, I have an Android. Vastly superior to the iPhone in many ways IMO, but I guess that innovation got word around Apple this time around...

MLP Forums supports the most basic type of upload possible, a simple HTML <fileinput> field. Any browser supporting that essential bit of HTML spec is able to upload files to MLP Forums.

Unfortunately, it appears that support for browser-based uploads is hit-and-miss when it comes to handheld devices. My 3DS, for example, handles them just fine; but many relatively high-end phones are useless with this. Even Apple didn't have it until iOS 6.

It is possible to replicate image/file uploading functionality using a native app. A native mobile app is something I have every intention of bringing to MLP Forums, but it is dependent on when IPS are ready to open their white-label app service.

END OF YEAR.

LIAR.

Haha seriously though, I'd love to see a MLP Forums app to come out. It better have the same features as the full site...

See, everyone? This is why I don't give out release dates for things anymore. ^_^

Isn't it funny how something like the 3DS, which is awesome in its own way but seems obsolete compared to my Droid RAZR, would have that sort of capability? It seems a little backwards lol.

At any rate, I am glad to know that my suggestion isn't completely off base. I would love to see a mobile app as well. :)
