Hey guys its me again, And I never thought i'd be posting anymore art here after my first creation, but I felt like after I did a little bit of practice and actually used some reference that I might try again.

I do think that I improved, I mean if you compare my first piece of artwork

To the new art I made I think its safe to say I made some form of improvement, but I guess you can be the judge of that :P.

Keep in mind that I am a novice at not only pony artwork, but art in general. So I don't have much experience with art really.(Unless stick figures count... Or really really poor drawings I made when I was little :P.)

Ok so first heres the first version i made with just the outline, And its black outline.

Then I took and made another one of with colored outline and colored in. This one took quite a long time, Probably something like 3-5 hoursish? Maybe even a little more.

Well I'll leave critique to y'all. I didn't really practice hardly at all between this and my first one, I just looked at a few tutorials, and used a reference this time.

Just so you know its of my OC, who I have yet to bother really naming or making any backstory for or anything :P. I just used his pony creator image for reference if you want a good view of it then here you go!

Well I guess thats about it, I know I'm certainly not a professional at all, and I may never be. However I felt like trying a bit with creating some pony artwork to see if I had any sort of potential with it at all.

I made the picture using GIMP. I did it with a mouse as well, Just used some tools and layers from GIMP this time to make things easier and smoother.

Feel free to leave feedback and critique, I know it is a LONG way from greatness, but I'd like some more professional opinions on what I need to work on.

Thank you for your time! Hope you find some enjoyment in my mediocre artwork :P.

Nah, I'm kidding. You've improved a lot since the first one, I can see why you have so much trouble though, drawing with a mouse is incredibly difficult and hard to fix if you make a mistake. I don't even bother trying, I use tools for curves and shapes instead (I'm not familiar with Gimp so I'm afraid I don't have much advice to give you about what tools you can use).

You're definitely improving, I look forward to other drawings from you. Also, do you mind if I try my hand at your OC? I could certainly use the practice.

hehe thanks! And yeah drawing with a mouse can be annoying sometimes, I have used quite alot of undo's. I really just drew most of it with a pencil tool, I like the look of it much much better then the paintbrush :P. I used a few others, but I don't really feel that using any specific shape tools would've worked very well in my drawing, it looks to.. Unnatural to me.

And if you wanna draw my OC I have no problem with that at all! :D I'd love to see how it looks when your done!

Thank you for your feedback :)

Part of learning how to draw is being able to see something exactly the way it appears. If you're interested in even more massive improvement, there are sources like a book titled 'drawing on the right side of the brain' which gets you to actually seeing an object right so you can better draw it yourself.

I'm a bit confused by what you mean exactly, maybe I'm thinking about it to much. Do you just mean to be able to look at something and know how it would be drawn or am I on the wrong track?

Well regardless thank you for the suggestion!

Its complicated to explain. Your brain has two halves called hemispheres. Both halves are good different things. The left side of the brain is usually the more dominant one and coincidentally, it's the side of the brain that cannot draw for its life. The right hemisphere of the brain has all of the ability to grasp spatial relationships and thus, the hemisphere of the brain that must be used when drawing. The left brain can't make any sense of spatial relationships and the reason why a lot of people can't draw well.

There's a lot for me to explain as the stuff I'm talking about came from an actual textboom I once found in a library.

The improvement you have made is exponential, I'm really pleased with how far you've come. It's so nice to see. :) Your art now has a lot more proportion and shape, you're obviously really getting the hang of this style. Keep up the good work! B)

Compared to your first one, you've made some good improvement! Especially on the coloring. I hope you keep practicing and striving to become a better artist! :3

Thank you Rainbow Scratch :D! I do plan on practicing plenty since theres alot of things I still need to fix, I think the biggest thing is probably the proportions are off.

Thank you for the compliment again!

Every journey begins with a single step. You're still young (yes I looked at your profile), and you've got lots of time to get better at it, and you will get better at it if you force yourself to get better. Thats my first bit of advice, actually getting better at artwork takes discipline, and just flat out making yourself work harder and deeper. But as for practical advice, I would stay away from the mouse as a drawing tool. If you have access to a scanner then I'd love to see some hand drawn work of yours. Drawing by hand should really be your starting point... IMO. LOL and I just gotta ask... why the frowny face? Your OC looks so sad. :(

I guess thats true, I don't really know where my scanner is if I have one though, I know a mouse is a pretty bleh thing to use for drawing, but I really don't have much else at the moment. However I kinda think my hand drawn stuff is worse then my mouse drawn stuff.(Depends on what I'm doing but mostly true in my opinion)

I plan on doing some work regardless and practicing, I mean I'm not exactly trying to be a professional artist or something when I get older or anything, i just thought that I suck at drawing as of the moment, and I was wondering if maybe I could do something about that :P.

And I dunno. the frowny face is just kinda easier to draw first of all. or atleast it was to me, and I always have weird smiley faces when I've tried em before, I'll probably do another with a smiley at somepoint.

Thanks for the feedback btw :D
