 Commanders of House Stormwing are trained to value Courage and Honor above all else and to always be at the front to lead the troops by example.

Anypony who does not do so is a coward undeserving of their rank and unworthy to be a part of House Stormwing and the proud warrior culture of the Pegasi species.
And it is for that reason that all commanders live by this one mantra that is held in high regards among many warriors:
"Go into battle determined to die and you will survive. Go into battle hoping to live... and you will not."

Stormwing Earth Auxilia Cohort

Being more of a part-time sentry force than a full-time professional army, the Earth Auxilia are Militiaponies that can only function adequately in a strictly defensive capacity.
As a result, they are mostly relegated to Town Watch and to the security of territories that have been recently conquered and occupied by House Stormwing.
Their equipment is rather basic, due to the obvious fact that Farming is their primary role instead of combat: Spears, Javelins, Slings, Shortbows, and Wooden Shields.

Stormwing Legionary Cohort

The mainline heavy infantry of House Stormwing's forces, the Pegasi Legionary is equipped and trained to take on all threats with the Hoplon, Spear, and Shortsword.

Stormwing Toxotes Cohort

Pegasi who are trained in the Art of the Bow, Stormwing Toxotes can swoop in, rain a punishing volley of arrows upon the enemy, and dart away before the enemy has a chance to retaliate.
Though they are strictly skirmishers who are lightly equipped for that role, the Toxotes can make themselves to be a severe pain in the flank unless they're dealt with immediately.
And if the need arises, they can throw down and support their fellow pegasi in a melee with the Shortsword and Pelte (a 6-Inch RoundShield).
A versatile unit that can be very effective when used properly.

Stormwing Skyraider Cohort

Not one war in history has ever been won with strength and honor alone.
In fact, the truth of the matter is that all warfare is maneuver and deception.
The premier Light Infantry Corps of House Stormwing, the Skyraiders, reflect this truth in their unconventional doctrine.
They are an Elite Unit of highly trained Pegasi Skirmishers who can "Fly fast and hit hard from anywhere at anytime."
Always the first ones to battle, they serve as House Stormwing's eyes and ears and as very formidable and elusive opponents who can irritate and bleed the enemy to no end.
All Skyraider Battalions are trained to mobilize quickly, fight unfairly, and use unconventional tactics such as long-range patrols and quick ambushes followed by sudden withdrawals before the enemy can react.
So long as the Skyraiders reign from the skies and lead the way, House Stormwing's enemies have little to no hope of victory.

Stormwing Swordwind Cohort

An Elite Class of Pegasi Warriors who are named in honor of Swordwind, a master of close-combat who created the Art of the Dancing Blades.
Swordwind warriors can make strafing runs with wing blades or go face to face and unleash a swift barrage of precise sword blows to cut down their enemies.
They are nigh-invulnerable in hoof-to-hoof combat except to cowards that would dare to attack them from far away.

GEF (Griffin Expeditionary Force) Battalion

Griffins are a hardy species of flyers who are known for their natural speed, ferocity, strength, and resilience which are all important requirements of survival up inside the cold mountain peaks north of Equestria where they make their homes.
So the battlefield value of Gilda's Griffin Volunteers goes without saying to anyone who has some good knowledge on this formidable species of fighting omnivores.
However, their presence has caused some skepticism among the junior and senior levels of House Stormwing's command staff.
The Conservative Traditionalists argue that they should be sent back for the sake of the Pegasi species' pride as a warrior culture while the Liberal Reformists say that they should be allowed to participate in our battles as the first step to a new alliance between Pegasi and Griffins.
But overall, both parties agree that the full and unquestionable trust of House Stormwing should not be placed on Gilda and the GEF... at least for the time being.
