What inspired you to write your first FiM fic?

My inspiration to both my stories goes to the great author of My Little Dashie, ROBcakeran.  After reading it I wrote my first story about all the Mane 6 and some other charecters (I.e The CMC) Living with me and my friends. The second is me living with My OC (Ace Sharpshooter) In Equestria.

The Wind Beneath Her Wings, by TAW, and Romance Reports, by SleeplessBrony. Do I need to say more? Well, I suppose I do, character limit and all... When I started reading The Wind Beneath Her Wings, the chapter after the interlude had just been released. After I read it I was so sad, I didn't know what think anymore. I soon got over it and went to read Romance Reports, since it's another one I had heard a lot about. I read, I believe, the first four chapters, before going to bed. The next day I read the entire rest of the story, for the most part in one sitting. That's when the idea of writing something of my own started floating around in my head, inception and all that. I then was re-watching some episodes of MLP, when I watched Sonic Rainboom, and thought to myself, "What would Twilight think if she actually saw the Rainboom that caused her to get her cutie mark?" Because, you know, she wasn't looking out the window when it happened, so she didn't actually see it. Not long later I started writing, and it's all history from there.

No one really. I've always loved reading and writing. Specifically reading and writing fiction. Though if I had to choose someone, it was actually someone on this forums.

 

To be completely honest, it was who supported me to write and gave me excellent matetrial to read and inspire me. And for that, thanks. Unfortunately we've both kind of lost our interest in reading and writng... XD

Well, I had read a lot of fanfics before FIM. And then, when I got to ponies, I started reading those FiMfics as well. I had never even THOUGHT of writing anything at all. July last year I had written a poem that I ended up using in a small competition and won. After that, it came to February this year when my curiosity finally got to me and I started writing my first fanfic, which turned out to be of ponies. I didn't really have any especific inspiration, because my story was Ponies on Earth with a small twist, which wasn't very common so...yeah, that's how I started (and I don't regret it).

Well mines still in the planning and research stage (yeah I treat writing like a design project) of my first fanfic, but the inspiration came from an outside source. I realised there are quite a few plot holes in MLP:FIM when it comes to certain things, so I started trying to work out a way of fixing them or explaining them. After a bit of thought I managed to come up with something that would easily explain all of them.

 

I know I'm being vague but thats only because I want to give nothing away.

I just wanted to be apart of the brony community in some way and I was pretty good at writhing, so I just started thinking up ideas, until I came up with one that I thought would be easy to wright. Than just put it down on paper.

Cupcakes, The Rainbow Factory, and other Dark Fanfics. I honestly love a good horror story or dark story, keeps the blood pumpin'. However I mostly write lighthearted, or action stories.

At first I read about 10 million words before I even thought of an idea remotely good enough for writing out into a full-fledged story. And that's where I started. Now I have two stories that I plan on continuing and a third oneshot that's received somewhat good response.

well, it was a very long time ago (like, 2 days ago X3) i was thinking of this... story in my head, and it was sooo awesome, that i had to write about it, about ponies, of course, then i got bored of the idea of the characters being ponies, and it didn't really fit with the story, so i gave up on it and started writing the same story about humans.

 

but even longer ago (like a couple months) i wrote this really amazing story, but i don't remember what it was about o.o

I would have to say, the three main influences were Rainbow Factory, Metal Gear Solid 4's Story, and having a half finished game on RPG maker 2003.  I decided, what if I wrote a story about what happened before Rainbow factory, but have a Metal Gear Solid feel to it?  With the idea, I listened to music imagining a story in my head with the songs, stopped listening and wrote the rest of the day  so a combination of things inspired me to write I guess.
