Lingo faced the mustached pony. "Ooh, no one sports a mustache these days! Well might I say, sir, that it really works for you." She blinked

 

 

Gray was caught of guard by the pony, for he was just waiting for the responses of the other two he just had a small conversation with. "They sure like to talk in here." he thought but when he heard the pony complimenting his moustache he bulked up a little and looked very pride and happy.

 

"Why thank y-" Gray tried to respond but the pony instantly continued with her talking, Gray smirked at this little interruption.

 

 

"Oh, silly me! Not even introducing myself to either of you...I'm Lingo Cider. I run the bar. Can I get ya' some radigator cider as well, mister...?"

 

 

Gray chuckled and responded by saying; "My name is Gray.. Gray Cover." Gray heard the word "radigator cider" and he thought "That is a strange name for a cider, I'm not gonna take any risks.. this place is unfamilair after all."

 

"Thank you, but.. I don't suppose you serve tea here, would you?" Gray asked in a curious manner.

 

As he said the following Gray inspected the earth pony with more precision, noticing nothing really extraordinary about her he got some inner relief and thought; "Atleast there is one civilised looking pony around here, I shouldn't judge that fast though.. Haven't seen anyone else in the Inn yet."

"Tea?" Lingo suppressed a grin. Some ponies just couldn't handle a good mug of hard cider... "Sure thing, sweety, we should have something for ya'. Any particular flavor?" She didn't wait for an answer, instead pouring a steaming cup of dark Saddle Arabian tea and setting the drink down in front of Gray.

 

"So tell me, Gray," Lingo said while resting her head on her hooves, leaning against the bar. "How did ya' find us? Running from the law? Chased by a manticore? World ending in nuclear hellfire?"

Autumn chugged down the rest of her cider then turned to Diego.

"Don't scare away the new ponies." She teased, nudging him slightly.

She waved a hoof towards Lingo.

"Can I have another glass Lingo?" she called, flicking her tail back and forth. she had already polished off three glasses of cider, which was impressive for a pony of her size.

Still curious as to Gray's life, Lingo turned her head slightly to Autumn. "Yeah, yeah, sure thing, sweety." Without taking her eyes off of Gray (and his fabulous mustache), Lingo expertly poured another mug of cider and slid it down the counter to the pegasus mare.

Autumn caught the glass, then took a sip.

"I swear! this stuff just keeps getting better and better!" Autumn exclaimed.

"Thanks Lingo!" she called down the bar before taking another sip of her cider.

"Man... I almost don't want to leave this place..." she whispered to herself.

Diego snickered. "You'll find out soon enough how this place works," he said, downing his glass of cider. The unicorn threw down a few bits on to the bar top.

 

"Another cider, Lingo," he slurred. "And have another one for yourself. That robbery ought to see me right for the moment, tho I'd hate to think of what's going to be waiting for me when I leave here. Still, I can always come back here if I want; a little chaos magic does wonders at opening doors for me."

"He's not scared," Diego replied to the younger pony with a shrug. He shot a look at Autumn, hoping that she wasn't going to abandon him for this new arrival and that she preferred the clean shaven look to the facial hair.

"Any particular flavor?"

 

 

"Why I-" Gray started.. but then he noticed that Lingo was already pouring the tea and so stopped his sentence, first a little flustered he quickly changed that expression and let out a small chuckle.

 

Gray looked at Lingo as she placed the tea infront of him.. "Thank you." he said in response.

 

 

"How did ya' find us? Running from the law? Chased by a manticore? World ending in nuclear hellfire?"

 

 

Gray raised his right eyebrow when he noticed Lingo was pouring and 'handed' the cup of cider to Autumn while still looking at him. "She sure has expertise in her work.." he thought.

 

"Well, I'm sorry to disappoint but I just ran into this seemingly abandoned cottage in order to find shelter from the rain and it turned out be an Inn instead.. Of all places!" Gray responded to Lingo's question. "Nothing really exciting.." he said in a kind of sad manner. 

 

Gray finally noticed that Lingo was staring at his moustache most of the time. "..But it seems my moustache will make up for it." he said jokingly and winked at Lingo.

 

He chuckled at his own little joke and took a sip from his tea.

Autumn saw the look on his face and laughed.

"I'm not going anywhere Diego, even if I was, I'd probably end up falling over." She said, laughing at her comment.

She quickly took another sip of cider.

"Anywho... how's it goin' bud?" Autumn asked, flicking her tail back and forth.

Diego was relieved to hear that, tho he tried not to show it. "Going fine for me," he said. "I might stick around here for a bit longer."

 

The next moment, the door to the inn was flung open and a creature trotted in. At first glance, the newcomer seemed like a pony; however, with a second glance, it became apparent that she was not. Cicada was in fact a changeling. She could take the form of anypony she wanted and often did thruout her shift. Since the Prancing Pony was becoming fairly crowded, Cicada had come to give her fellow barmaid Lingo a hand serving customers. She threw her saddlebags behind the bar as she joined Lingo there.

 

"Wow," she said, immediately taking the form of Princess Luna, "You weren't joking, Lingo! This place is heaving! Go and put your hooves up for a bit, I'll take over and give you a break."

Autumn leaned over to Diego.

"Who is that?" she asked, whispering in his ear.

I've never seen anypony like that before... she must be a changeling... but I heard changelings are dangerous... why would they just let one into the Prancing Pony? Autumn pondered as she leaned back and took another sip of her drink.

"Wow," she said, immediately taking the form of Princess Luna, "You weren't joking, Lingo! This place is heaving! Go and put your hooves up for a bit, I'll take over and give you a break."

 

"Ohmygosh THANK YOU." Lingo sighed heavily and sat up on the bar counter. "Late for my shift, then this sudden tidal wave of new ponies...you would not BELIEVE the kind of night I've had." She saw the odd look the other patrons were giving the changeling-but-now-a-princess and decided to explain. "Everyone, this is the other barmaid Cicadia. She's a changeling and a ball of fun."

Diego whispered back to Autumn, "No need to worry; that's just Cicada. She's the other barmaid who serves ponies here."

 

Cicada smiled at Lingo. "I can guess it's been busy; you look exhausted," she said, still in the shape of Luna. "I have to wonder at what's in the air tonight; I've never seen so many ponies here in one place. Usually, there's just the likes of Diego here propping up the bar."

Gray's face turned to the door as it opened and he almost let his cup of tea fall on the ground, for he saw a changeling, the kind who attacked Canterlot not long ago and Gray would know.. he was there after all!

 

"What in the blazes is a changeling doing here?!" Gray thought panickly. "I shouldn't worry though, there are lots of ponies in here.. If it tries anything tricky.." Gray took a quick of sip his tea to calm down.

 

He noticed the changeling was coming towards the bar, towards Lingo it seems.. "How in the world would they be related?" he thought.

 

The changeling came closer and started talking to Lingo, but then she did something that Gray could not tolerate.. She changed herself into Princess Luna and his face turned red of anger. "Calm down, Gray.. Come on now.." he thought and took another sip of his tea.

 

Then Lingo did something Gray expected the least, she announced that the changeling works here as a barmaid.

 

Finally Gray snapped.. "What?!" he said rather loud towards Lingo. "A Changeling works here, in a Inn?!".

 

Gray had a rather angry look on his face and glared at the fake Princess Luna.

 

"Please, do explain!" he said rather demanding.

Cicada glared at the grey pony with just as much anger as he was directing towards her. She took the shape of a grey pegasus with a blonde mane and tail. "You want to know what I'm doing here?" she asked him. "Well, I'll tell you. I'm working. Why shouldn't I work in this inn? It's not as tho I'd stand any chance of getting a job in Equestria, and I'm sure you know why. In any case, I'd thank you not to harrass me while I'm working."

 

Diego slammed some bits on the bar top. "Another cider for me, and one for Autumn, too," he said. Cicada smiled; she could see something that had never happened before, well, not to her knowledge anyway. Namely that Diego the antisocial unicorn had finally found a mare that he wanted to be with. Cicada served up the two ponies another tankard of Lingo's special cider each and rattled the bits into the till.

Gray's glasses moved all the way to the far end of his nose because of his little outburst and listened intensely to what the changeling had to say.

 

He faced the changeling one final time, while still having a angered expression he did seem to have calmed down a little bit.

 

"You bet I know why you aren't able to get one and with good reason, I do feel sorry for the owners of this Inn who have to put up with you.. Considering you could seduct any of the customers coming through without them even noticing.." he said arrogantly with the intension of insulting the changeling. "..and I won't harass you further because I'd rather stay outside in the rain then share any space with such a monstrosity." he swiftly turned away from the changeling, putted his glasses back on their intended position and placed a few bits next to his halfy finished cup of tea.

 

 

Gray faced Lingo while still having a uncomfortable expression. "Thank you for your hospitality, I must however question your choice of employees.. Good day." he said and he turned to the direction of the exit and left the Inn, anything said to him while leaving is ignored by his pride and stubborness.

 

Gray knew he wasn't fully right with the case he made, but he was to prideful to openly admit it to others or himself.. He also left in case it would take a turn on the worse (On his part). "..Some wounds take a long time to heal." he thought while being annoyed by himself.

 

He stepped outside into the rain and followed the road he left a while ago and thought "This is one place I'll surely never come again."

Cicada sighed heavily. "Some ponies just can't ever forgive," she muttered to herself, not caring if anypony overheard. "I was a different creature back then, pardon the pun. I'd hoped that I could escape all that here."

 

The changeling shifted shape again, taking the shape of a dark blue pony with a red mane and tail. This was a shape she was often in, whenever she felt upset and angry. It seemed fitting, somehow.

"Oh... that makes sense..." Autumn trailed off.

"wow... she is the first changeling I've ever seen... this is amazing..." Autumn froze when she heard Grey snap.

DANG... that pony is one angry... kind of creepy pony... Autumn thought as she tapped her left hoof on the bar's counter.

Diego handed a glass of cider to Autumn. "I mean, I know she's a changeling but so what?" he said. "If it means I don't have to wait ages to get a drink cuz Lingo's rushed off her hooves, then I don't care who serves me, whether it's a griffin, dragon, changeling or whatever. And who's to say they're all bad? Ponies back home assume I'm bad, cuz I can do chaos magic."

"Its sad really, when someone hates someone else just because they are different... that don't have the right to do that...  yet they go ahead and do it anyways..." Autumn murmured as she took a sip of her cider.

Her mind drifted to back when she was a filly at the orphanage and she shuddered.

"I kind of know how Cicada feels in that way, what with other ponies hating on me cuz of my talent for chaos magic," Diego replied. "In any case, Lingo needs a break and there's nopony else to work cept for Cicada. It's weird; I've never seen so many ponies in the bar at one time before."

"There are a lot of ponies here..." Autumn said, trailing off.

She quickly looked around the bar and broke into a panic.

OH... MY... GOSH! there are way too many ponies here... Autumn thought, starting to sway back and forth.

"I... UH.... I... UM..." Autumn stammered before falling off of her bar stool, passing out from panic, not from the booze.

Lingo peered over the counter at the unconscious pony. She looked left, then right, then left again. 

 

"Oh no, this poor mare has passed out!" She said as loudly and clearly as she could. "Does anyone here know mouth-to-mouth? No? Well, I had better give her the kiss of life..." As she trailed off, she vaulted the counter and leaned down to "resuscitate" Autumn.

Diego shoved past Lingo. "I'll do it, I saw somepony do it once in Ponyville and I sort of know how to bring somepony back from a faint." He wasn't actually sure, but didn't want to miss out on such an opportunity as this. Diego was also worried about Autumn and, with a start, realised that he really cared for her.

Autumn had already snapped out of the faint, but she wanted to no what Diego was going to do, so she just laid there.

She tried not to giggle at what Lingo had said before Diego pushed past her.
I see what you did there Lingo, nice one... hahaha... Autumn thought.

Diego hesitated a little first, but in the end he couldn't help himself. He leant down over Autumn and gently kissed the pegasus mare. He could feel that she was breathing so didn't need mouth to mouth, but he hoped that she'd soon come round so he could tell her how he felt.
