Collision tilted his head to one side in curiosity. "Undead? Isn't that just someone who's not dead?" he queried aloud, looking for confirmation from the group. The blue colt was beginning to regret not listening earlier to the details, and something about the way the others spoke seemed to expel the ideas of a light hearted adventure.

Mad king? Mad as in angry or crazy? He glared over to Star Rain who was looking through the book, stareing furiously at it as if glareing would give her more answers. "What requires a forbidden...whatever? If you're going to give information at least give us the previous entry.." He flicked his tail aggrivated, just giving the last cut off sentence didn't help the situation, and that colt was really getting on his nerves! His ears turned back as the kid looked at each of them with a hopeless expression on his face.

Hasn't anyone taught this colt to be seen and not heard?

((I warned that he was abrasive..He's actually still being nice for his standards...usually he'd have gone off to do his own thing by now, but he's useing you guys for information...two heads think better than one, as it goes.))

"Both meanings would be correct." said Topaz. I'm afraid I don't know much else about the situation. Even as a scholar, my knowledge is rather limited. Even more so about things such as this. I'm somewhat proficient in magic, but I don't know anything about whatever spells or rituals they may be doing."

"Ok ok! Sheesh..." she replied with great annoyance. Star Rain then read the same legend aloud and added,"To awaken the insane tyrant, a-" she stopped because some of the other words were crossed out with ink and then there was that one part about a forbidden something. There was one thing in that additional bit of information that wasn't crossed out though. "For his nefarious power to truly reawaken, his obsidian staff must be returned." She looked over to Collision with a look of worry, a feeling that was highly similar to concern and something else. Like a strong desire to protect a friend. And she never before had a friend. Looking into the wagon a second time, she spotted a shield and a sword. Levitating them out of the wagon, she gave them to Collision. "Here. Use these to protect yourself. If they get past me, these will be the only things left to defend you," she said shakily.

Collision's eyes grew even wider at the sight of the shield and sword, and he backed off a bit. "O.. okay..." he said shakily, the enthusiasm in his voice replaced with uncertainty. "This is.. starting to scare me now! All these curses and things... I thought this was an adventure!" he shrunk back, realisation finally hitting him about the true nature of what was happening, and he reluctantly took the sword and shield, holding them together. "I.. Umm.." the colt began, unsure of what to say.

((making some adjustments to my character - hope its okay))

with a stomp of his hoof Nameless turned and looked between the local ponies and the masked one "heard of the staff before?" He wondered if the masked one, although an official had any more clue to what was going on then the rest of the, when he heard the child become afraid behind him, he felt a phantom twitch where his other ear would have been, had it not been ripped off years before.

Good maybe he'll learn that it takes strength to become strong, not just headstrong adventuring but real training. He narrowed his eyes, glancing back at the colt in his periferal vision as a small annoying part of him voiced maybe he'll learn your mistakes the easy way.

He ignored that part and turned back to the colt, looking down on him, gauging his use besides that of obvious meatshield.

"Adventures aren't heroic unless your side wins, otherwise they're just massacres"

part of him wanted to keep this kid safe and part just wanted him to grow up fast like he had. a third part was warring between telling this kid to run away and praising him for fighting at all. A small part just wanted to strangle him for being annoying.

"Don't worry kid, I'll protect you the best I can. I'll protect all of you if it comes to that." Thunder didn't normally feel this sort of urge to protect people, usually he was just concerned with staying alive himself. But for whatever reason he was determined not to let any of them get hurt as long as he still drew breath.

Collision finally snapped. "N.. No! This isn't... this is way too..."

At the back of his mind, an image of a songbird hopping mindlessly across the ground echoed, giving Collision strength. "This is too much for me." he said finally. "I... I can't fight! Or... or capture amulets!" he turned away from the group. "I'll just hold you guys back! I should.. I'll..." he stopped talking, and simply walked from the room, towards the exit, vibrant tail between his legs, and head hung low.

Oh no. What should I do?! He can't just walk out there when there's an evil group of ponies operating around here! He's more likely to get killed! Star Rain thought with dread. Then she remembered something. "Wait! You told us you could wall jump in different places and stuff, right? Maybe we can use that to our advantage!" she shouted. He may not be a fighter but... he could probaly be useful in getting stuff away from whoever we're dealing with! And... what was that feeling I felt? Friendship? What is that exactly? wondered Star Rain.

Deep within the caverns, a magical energy grew. A chamber nearby the energy contained a couple of ponies.

"How much longer 'till?" said a red pegasus stallion. His white mane hung down his shoulders freely, as he fiddled with some chain. He had a length of chains wrapped around his entire body, excluding his face, and he was unclothed. "I'm getting bored of waiting."

"Soon enough." said a blue unicorn mare, who had a quite torn and tattered, withered grey mane. She looked very frail, and had trouble even standing. This was quite strange, as she looked to be quite young, and not visibly wounded.  She wore an old cloak, which was a tannish color, and torn quite a bit. "If you're so bored, you should go on the next mission."

"But where's the fun in commoners?" said the pegasus. "All they do is plead and beg. Even when they do put up a fight, it's hardly thrilling."

"But the way they beg, and how they fear, don't you find it...delicious?" said the mare.

"I've never quite had the same taste for torture as you, I suppose. Still, going out on a mission is better than sitting around here."

Collision looked back to Star. "I dunno... It still seems pretty dangerous." he hesitated at the door. "Sorry." he squeaked, before bolting out, slamming the door after him. On the road outside, Collision started to walk, looking down at his hooves. Suddenly, he saw something. Ahead if him on the road, the songbird hopped. Collision brightened instantly, returning to his old self. He laughed, and bounced after the songbird.

Meta Knight sighed, and stood up silently. "Excuse me..." He stepped outside.

The song bird stopped right outside of Trottingham. Then it noticed some seed and went to eat it. When Collision appeared, Meta was feeding the bird and about seven others. "Hello there... Collision, is it?" He held out a bag of seeds to him. "Care to join me?"

Collision looked up at Meta, his smile faltering a little, but nevertheless, he joined him in feeding the birds. "So... are you going on that mission or..." Collision asked. It was kind of strange seeing Meta out here; Collision had expected him to be with the others, planning the mission.

"Maybe.. or maybe not." He continued to feed the birds. After about a minute or two, he looked up. "The Flare King, hmm? I'm debating whether or not to go for the sole purpose that I was the one that defeated him 500 years ago... Kinda be stealing the glory, wouldn't it?" Meta sighed. "I might visit home... or I might spend some more time with the crew of my ship... or I might just wander the land." He turned to Collision. "So... what are your plans?"

Collision looked back wide eyed in wonder. "500 years? Crew of a ship!" then he got a hold on himself, glaring pointedly at his hooves. "I'll just... find stuff. Maybe another adventure, maybe a town, maybe even some friends." he glanced at Meta in awe. "You.. you've got a ship?"

Meta nodded. "An airship, to be precise. Celestia didn't want me bringing it on the basis that it could be seen from a mile away. Can't say she's wrong." He noted what he said about friends. "You're a nice kid, you know." Meta said. "And if anyone says anything different... well, you say each to their own and walk away." He smiled. "I know lots of people with your energy disorder. Actually..." he dropped his voice. "Believe it or not... Celestia has that issue, too. She's learned to control it, but it was quite interesting to watch a few centuries ago." Meta leaned back, eyes closes, with a smile on his face. "Those were the days..."

Still wide eyed, Collision stammered "C.. Celestia? You know Celestia!! But she's like... princess of Equestria!"

Collision was in awe of Meta, his powerful connections, his incredible past, even the way that the older pony stood. His mind returned to his own past, the endless bright nights in his father's casino, the pulsing music, and the sensory overload. That kind of childhood probably explained why he was so... energetic. Collision returned his attention to Meta, encapsulated in his stories.

"Yes, well, I was young and obsessed with adventure, as all young ponies are." The images came back to him, and he continued. "I was wandering the land, offering my service as an artificer, when I got a message from the Princess herself, commissioning me to make an artifact that would be the bane of all evil. Of course, when I had received this request, I was quite shocked, as you could imagine. I looked up the materials, and saw that I would be unable to make this sword alone. Being the young idiot that I was, I decided that who else would be able to help me better than myself? And so I took to the Everfree Forest in search of the Mirror Pool.

"Alas, I found it, but I made a mistake in the enchantment, and the clone of me that came out had a heart of darkness. So I took my sword, and was able to hold him off, but it resulted in the scarring of my front legs. I managed to stabbed him in the back, and he swore revenge before opening his giant bat wings and soared away on an updraft, only to harry me in many of my adventures, even to today.

"Of course, I was rather upset that the Mirror Pool had done this, as I thought at the time that I was destined to become evil. But, of course, after meditating on it, I realized that it only showed one path of my being. So I decided, for the sake of balance, to become the absolute opposite of my mirror twin, and hired my three best friends- the sailor triplets- to assist in my work. They were not me by far, but with their help, I was able to complete my work. I named it the Delta Sword." He paused to take a breath.

He continued with a sigh. "I brought it to Celestia as fast as I could, and yet... when I walked in to her chamber, the I saw my mirror twin balancing a sword in her directions. One of Celestia's wings were bloody and injured. I had leaped out into the open, and declared him to be a dishonorable traitor. He, of course didn't take kindly to this, so he turned to me and with a demonic grin, pounced on me.

"The battle was long and full of blood, broken bones, curses, and other things that battles are full of. Yet, he had me pinned down with a hoof and was just about to finish me off when- though I didn't know it at the time- Celestia shot a beam of energy at him. He blocked it, but it threw of his aim. The blow glanced off of my face, shaving my face off to the bone." He caressed the side of his head. "It filled me with great rage and, with a mighty heave of my body, threw him off and slashed him across the chest with the Delta Sword."

"It glowed white from tasting the blood of the wicked, and it caught in his body. No matter how hard he tried, he could not remove the blade... I was able to remove the blade, but it left a fragment of itself in him. The sword then shattered into five seperate pieces and scattered itself over all of Equestria. My mirror twin staggered backwards and flung himself off of the balcony, fleeing north."

He breathed again, catching his breath.

Star Rain was petrified when Collision bolted out of the door. She almost started to cry. It was like losing a close friend. Friend? What's a friend? What's friendship? Where did the word come from? she wondered, as she had never had a friend before or even known friendship because of her aunt. All a sudden she asked out loud,"What's friendship?"

Collision sat in wonder, listening to the story. Meta's tale fascinated the colt, filling his mind with thoughts of heroism, and the battle of good and evil. "You... you really did all of that?" Collision wandered aloud. "The most I've done is... well nothing..."

Suddenly, an idea hit Collision, an idea of epic proportions. A way to become just like Meta.

"Well, I guess you've got adventuring to do." Collision pointed out enthusiastically. "I'll leave you in peace now." Before Meta could protest, Collision darted off towards the town. Once alone, he raced to the far end, looking up at the mountain. If he wanted to become like Meta... then he'd have to prove himself! He could solve the adventure alone!

Memories of the weaponry that the others carried flickered briefly through his mind, but Collision foolishly ignored them. He wouldn't need any weapons! What's the worst that could happen? With that idea fresh in mind, Collision started up the mountain, a wide smile of excitement on his face.

Tondrak and his minions arrived at the entrance of the village. "I will retreive my staff. Tell your men to set fire to the houses, kill the villagers, but let some of them escape. We need someone to spread word of my return." Tondrak and his zombies moved through out the village, approching the location of his staff.

"Over there! It looks like the problem is coming to us." Big Thunder said, entering a fighting stance honed from years of brawling. "I hope you're all ready for this, because I don't think they're going to listen to reason." He waited for them to make their move, ready to fight.

The red pegasus flew above the town, surprisingly quick, even with the chains weighing him down. He wore a black cloak, covering most of his body, and obscuring the chains. He raised his hoof close to his face,  and then quickly flung it down, releasing one of the chains. This particular one had a blade attached to the end, and sunk into one of the villagers below, wounding him. He reeled the chain back in, and landed in the center of town.

"Come on out, fight me! Maybe one of you will be a challenge for me!" said Gust.

Thunder, seeing Gust attack the villager, ran over "If you're looking for a fight come take me on" He snorted and lowered his head, ready to charge his opponent. He wouldn't stand by and watch this psycho hurt defenseless people, not when he could stop protect them.

I know what they're after. They're after that staff in the book! Star Rain realized as her enemies poured into the village. Star Rain's ears perked up when she heard noises coming from Tondrak and the zombies. She then readied her magically-charged sword(something she can attack with any distance away thanks to her telekinesis). After seeing Gust attack the villager, she rushed up to him and slashed at his wings with her sword, cutting a couple feathers off.
