If I may be so permited, I'm going to reprint my comments from the Favorites and Recommendations Fanfiction thread.

 

Applecores and Rainbows
Description: "Applejack and Rainbow Dash attempt to turn their longtime friendship into a heartfelt relationship, without letting too many ponies in on the secret."
Thoughts: Wasn't going to read this at first because Flutterdash appeals more to me than Appledash but I'm glad I did*. That it's excellent is no surprise, this was written by CosmicWaltz. While my lack of enthusiasm for this particular coupling did limit my enjoyment I still enjoyed it immensely; it's just that good. In particular the final chapter hits one out of the ballpark delivering the most satisfying ending one could ask for. If you want Appledash, here it is.

 

*I've become much more fond of this coupling since I wrote this.

 

A Dash of Apple
Description: Applejack discovers Rainbow Dash can't cook. Out of the kindness of her heart, Applejack tries to teach Rainbow Dash a few basic recipes. But what starts as a cooking lesson soon turns into a bit more than that.
Thoughts: So. Much. Flirting. Not to say that's a bad thing. It's really cute. Some may find this one boring, there isn't much conflict and it's both quite long and slow paced. But if what you want is a sweet tale about two lovers trying to establish their relationship then slow pacing just means more time to savor the beauty of it. Highlights include Pinkie Pie and Rarity who are both in only a small part of the story but are highly entertaining nonetheless. Applebloom is also fun though I was hoping she'd get a bit more mileage out of the situation. Not the best Appledash story ever but it's no slacker.

 

Foal's Luck
Description: “Everyone knows that two mares can't have a foal. . . unless their best friend is one of the greatest magical minds in Equestria. Applejack and Rainbow Dash went to Twilight Sparkle with a simple question: Could she make a spell that would allow them to have a foal together? After a year of magical research, Twilight thinks that she's done just that. But the spell is not without potential side effects, and AJ and Dash have to decide if they're ready to be part of a magical experiment that could give them a foal of their own, or cost Applejack her life.”
Thoughts: Comprises of only one chapter so far, hopefully more on the way. It succeeds by taking a very serious look at the decision; expertly laying out how each of the three (AJ, RD, plus Twilight as she's responsible for whatever results) react and think about it and in doing so makes the gravity of the decision palpable. Twilight's explanation about the risks is also impressively detailed. I particularly like the idea of an earth pony being born with the mind of a Pegasus such that he/she feels the need to be in the sky and can never feel at home on the ground. It's similar to being transsexual except it's trans-tribe instead of trans-sex. I'm very interested to see where this story goes.

 

 

Those Blue Wings
Description: When Twilight's long distance teleportation spell goes wrong RD and AJ are terrified to learn they've exchanged tails and AJ now has RD's wings. While Twilight attempts to find a spell to return the body parts to their rightful owners, the others must attempt to deal with this situation... and with their changing feelings.
Thoughts: This is a story that gets better as it goes along. Do keep that in mind as you read as the first several chapters are, painful as this is to say, kinda amateurish. Exacerbating that is the slow pacing, does this story ever take its time. Real problem though is not the slow pacing- which has worked perfectly fine for many a story- but a general failure to heed the "show, don't tell" maxim. A problem the story never entirely overcomes. But! I'm recommending this story and for good reason. So let's get on to the good, yes? Where it matters, Those Blue Wings gets it right. Everypony is in character and the relationship development rests on a concrete foundation of believable character motivation. Events play out organically, despite the blunt writing, and RD and AJ have well defined arcs. What comes to the story's rescue is, ironically, what initially hindered it: the slow pacing. Where it had elongating the time before the good parts it's turned around such that it better places the reader in the hooves of AJ and RD. Feelings don't change quickly, and personal realizations are often resisted. But here, when they do happen, it's because they were a long time coming. Nothing is forced. Best of all, just as with the rest of the story, the ending takes its time and it's here the richness and splendor of the relationship is in full force. By the time it ends there's no doubt to be had this is a relationship built to last. And that's really damn satisfying.

If I may state an opinion:

To be completely clear, I am not a homophobe, but I, for some reason I can't quite explain, don't want any of the Mane 6 being together. I don't know, just doesn't seem quite right to me. Maybe because I just feel the Mane 6 all have their own matches in other parts of Equestria. Anyway, good artwork nonetheless guys.

Okay okay you got me with this drawing because it is so adorable and VERY well drawn at that! I mean I am not a fan of same gender shipping but at the same time I can appreciate nice artwork. And btw that is adorable!

Same here really, Soaren seems more fitting, as he is one of Dash's idols, someone it seems she would be most interested in, or even someone she could simply fit in just well enough with.

I've seen that alot too ^.^ i like it alot, but always saw Rainbow the more of a tux wearer than Applejack.

I know many who don't like the idea of them being together in a same sex relationship, but others see it as nice. I like it due to the fact I think it's cute and perfectly matched. ANYWAY, there is AppleDash friendshipping which doesnt exactly have them "together" so yes theres more than the accual AppleDash. but just saying, they are perfect for eachother.

I am mostly a Doctor Whooves and Derpy fan (love your sig Gone Airbourne!) but I always thought Applejack and Rainbowdash was a bit of a cute pair as well.

 

I'm not a giant fan of the same gender shipping but I got to admit, it would be a pretty interesting pair. They do got a pretty good bond of friendship going on between them though, they always seem to be together so who knows

Not sure what story you read, but as a shipping fan myself I've seen very little in shipfics that can be called disturbing. Mostly, they've been wonderful romance stories.

So many Mane Six ships with no one stepping outside their comfort zone. That's how breakthrough fics are born. Random concepts thrown at a wall and if written well it will stick and feel really unique.

Because Big Mac is her brother.... xD Sorry just had to point that out. But yeah, I totally agree with you. I think it's too much to ship two of the Mane 6 together, especially as they both have so much personality and different responsibilities. I will admit, at first I thought AppleDash was interesting, maybe cute, but the story I read... it wasn't. I know this is the internet and people can put whatever they want and Bronies have total control over this but... it was far too innapropriate for the likes of me. That's why I'm not in on them.

I have no clue what story you read O.o... maybe a mature rating one? I don't know. But there are others that are romance, friend shipping, and so on. Romance ones don't usually go very far. The farthest I've seen a teen rating is IMPLIED to a certain activity. But thats bout it. other than that a little bit of kissing and worry about opinions. All I can say is don't judge something from one story. Give it a chance if that's the reason you don't like it. I am not against you not liking it. But giving it another chance may change your opinion. I could give you a story that might change your opinion IF you want to try.

 

 

 

 

 

 

AppleDashForever, this is one of my most favorite AppleDash fics. its a short one, and it doesn't have any.... disturbing... properties to it.

Lol sorry everyone, I'm just not too keen on shipping myself; Especially between the members of the mane 6. 

 

Personally I believe they should stay friends, especially seeing as that is the whole point of the show. I just don't see any romantic potential between any of them.
