"Ah, politics. Don't worry, ah've dealt with the griffins before, and they're really not so bad. Anyway, of course ah'll help. My previous sentiment still holds. Looks like there'll be plenty of opportunity to enjoy meself. Diplomacy's a specialty of mine, after all."

Lenore patiently puts a calming hoof on the captain's flank.

"To be honest, mistress Bluenote, I'd rather just send you alone, but master Rambler and master Jabbermouth do provide certain useful talents and the captain insisted on including at least some military presence. Lieutenant Lance, it might be of interest to you that captain Shining Crescent of Daywatch personally recommended you for this mission. Of course, we'll have to ask you to forgo your current armor for a more nondescript equipment for the time of the mission."

"He did? I mean, -clears throat- of course he did. My armour? What does that have to do with anything? I will accede your request although I am curious as to why this mission, as you may refer to it, is kept under wraps. Surely one missing pony couldn't cause such an uproar."

Bluenote sighed. Of course, some of the most annoying people would be accommodating her on this, to her, this happens more often than not, so she didn't bother with other ponies unless needed. This was one of those times. "Alright, I accept.", she said. As an after thought, she was going to ask what terms there were, but decided against it.

"Yeah, now that I think about it, big-pony here has a point. Rich ponies go missing all of the time; why would this one be so unique as to warrant intervention by the Royal Guard? Or, rather, the Royal Guard's new expert strike team.

The captain drags out a crate from under the table and kicks it open revealing a folded set of intriguingly worked leather armor, obviously designed for arial combat.

"Spellforged, by the same unicorn that makes my unit's equipment. As good as metal at half the weight. And try to use your head lieutenant: This isn't about finding that idiot, its about not giving Gwyinn an excuse for starting trouble."

"My, my..." Jabbermouth gazed lovingly at the leather armor. "Spellforged, you say? Half the weight of metal...that could fetch quite the pretty bit with the right buyers. Would you happen to have a gift for any of the rest of us, perchance?"

Lenore gives a grave nod.

"As fierce as the griffons are, they are no match for either our warriors or our magic. ut Gwyin speculates that other nations would join her, if she was to go to war for a righteous cause. And some actually might.

Noone really knows, where King Sombra stands these days, the Sheiks of Saddle Arabia yearn for glory and plunder and the chieftains of the Diamond Dogs, still haven't forgotten that our ancestors kicked them off the biggest gem deposits in the known world. We have had more than a hundred years of peace and tha's not gonna change on my watch."

With the clinking of coins, Lenore pushes a small sack across the table.

"We will of course cover your expenses, master Jabbermouth. But as much as I wish, I could send you on your way with the very Elements of Harmony and armored in moonsteel, the mission depends on not drawing attention. Everything  you require, will be delivered to you in the morning."

Now, if there aren't any more questions you will all be given rooms for the night. I suggest you start your investigation on the morrow, by visiting Jasper's quaters in the noble's district."

(Okay guys, I gotta hit the hay, its 2am around here. I think we're off to a good start, just post any remaining in-character questions and we'll continue next week. I'll post something in the OOC thread.)

Jabbermouth greedily swiped up the bag of wonderful bits and jingled them, listening to the wonderful clink clink that signified a modest sum. "Yes, yes, this will do. Of course, this money will only go to the mission. Now, on a completely unrelated note, drinks tonight are on me!"

Bluenote gave a very disappointed sigh, and facehoofed. 'I can't even believe this pony. It seems all he cared about was money. And he said went into something even more unrelated.', she thought to herself. She rolled her eyes and went off to search for her room.

The next morning you are awoken rather abruptly by Canterlot Castle's one hundred trumpets welcoming the rise of the sun.

Except you there seems to be no living soul in this part of the castle, but on the table in the middle of the dormitory you find a rich breakfast, four small bags of coins and several other items (see OOC thread).

While you are still inspecting your new property, a bat flies into the room and drops what turns out to be a scroll containing a floorplan showing you the way to a servant's exit, an adress in the noble's district and the instruction to be on your way before midday.

Rambler ate his breakfast and examined the bottle of liquor. He thought about drinking it, but it was a bit early even for him. He had seen more than his share of liquor and he could tell this wasn't the cheap stuff. He stowed it in his pack along with the coins and headed out the door to find the others.

Even at this early hour, the noble district is bustling with activity: carts and carriages rumble past you, some containing the breakfast for Canterlot's elite, others the elite itself on the way to the day's business. The coarse shouts of the earthponies and bulls pulling them make for a strange combination with the shining marble facades, bristling with statues and carved reliefs.

After some difficulty (The elite does not seem to believe in housenumbers) you manage to find Evenstar Manor.

(If none of the others shows up in the next 15 minutes, we'll have to do this some other time)

The noble quarters weren't very new to Bluenote, she has taken temporary residence here a few times because of issues involving how far away she lived from the performance site.

A nearby shopkeeper asked her if she wanted a saddlebag, but she refused. She knew how cruel the shopkeepers became when a famous or rich pony came by.

Rambler noticed Bluenote following him, "Good mornin' lass. Ready to start investigating?"

He knocked on the door of the mansion, not really expecting an answer. "Hello, is anypony home? He paused and waited about thirty seconds, listening for a response.

the door opens to reveal an elderly earth pony mare , whose whole appearance screams "butler".

She inspects all of you with an expression ranging from curiosity (Bluenote and Jabber) to distaste (Rambler).

"I say,  can't recall ladyship having ordered entertainment for the morning. What is your business here, pray tell?"

Lance was reluctant to wake, shaking off any any outside irritations. After a while he was wide awake but refusing to budge from his covers. When he saw the handsome looking sum on the side table he was easily convinced to get up.

He was reluctant to take on this new Spell forged armor, not trusting a unicorn as far as he could throw one, but he compromised. He strapped on the kit but wore his gauntlets and his plumed helm of hammered brass. He strapped the scabbard to his side and tied the travel cloak around his neck. It was definitely lighter than his Royal Guard ceremonial cloak and a greater portion more low key.

He wandered the halls only to be caught in the confusion of a morning rush. When he managed to regain his way he was soon aware he was late, quite late. He took of his brass helm and slung int over his cloak, trying to appear a bit more presentable.

"The kitchen staff is perfectly capable of roasting all the bread her ladyship requires. "

She is about to slam the door into your faces when she notices the approaching Lance and the guard's helmet bouncing off his cloak.

"Ah, good sir, would you be so kind as to escort these ruffians of the premise?

(I really don't have anything to say until @@The-Master posts, but at this point I'm afraid the rp is going to die off and I refuse to let that happen)

Rambler turned to Jabbermouth and whispered, "Smooth lad, real smooth. Toaster repairponies- genius! Lance had better be able to get us in there"

"I can vouch for this band. Though they may be a rather odd bunch they were summoned here for a reason., I will try to keep them under my watch." Lance gave a soft bow before turning to face the group. "I think it would best for all of you that we moved somewhere a little less busy. A scene is the last thing we need at this hour."

Jabbermouth turned to rambler with a scoff. "Odd bunch? Looks like jughead here still fancies himself a cut above the rest of us..." Regardless of his feelings, having a military escort at this point wouldn't be such a bad idea. He put a hoof to his forehead and swayed dramatically. "Oh, sir Lance the Brave, please lead us bravely ever-onward with your braveness!" Jabber stepped around the group and began entering the building while muttering under his breath, "Freakin' fancy-pants ponies..."

Lance rolled his eyes at the idiotic colt. "You are a perfect representation of an inverse ratio between the size of ones brain and the size of ones mouth. Be sure to keeps yours shut until we are behind closed doors." Lance was not one to be tested, anypony mocking him was just asking for conflict. He lead the group of ponies to a small lounge, sitting himself down on one of the couches.

"I don't exactly know where we're supposed to be, but here is at least a good place to rest for now."

Jabber managed to grab a seat on one of the couches next to Rambler. "Y'know, he is so cute when he gets all angry and pouty like that." Leaning back and putting his hooves behind his head, Jabber looked over at Lance. "Wait, do you even roll that way, soldier buck? Oh, what am I saying, you're a trooper - you probably don't even know what your dingleberries are for."

OOC: I feel like I'm being too much of a jerk...am I? Ole' Jabs doesn't have anything against Lance, he just thinks it is fun.

Also, looking back at this post, Jabs needs to step up his game when it comes to insults. This was just weak.
