searching Normal Life at Total War (semi-WW2 inspired RP)

I've read this book recently called "Secret Youth" and it's about a teenage girl going through her life in an imaginary country that is in total war. They also have these people called "Strangers", which are like criminals for no good reason other than the fact they are different. This imaginary country has ordered all Strangers to take themselves in and be taken by the country, obviously not for good things. I won't specify too much more but you can clearly see the similarities between this imaginary country and Germany during WW2, the book is fiction, but it's telling a similar story. 
 
And I want to start an RP on it, in a fictional country that is at waging war, the normal everyday life is never dull. Also I've never RP'd before , I want to try it.

 

I need at least 3 ponies for the RP, and at least one mare, otherwise there would be no tension.

RULES

1. Because this is supposedly like a book, I want everything to be in past tense, for example:

"She brushed her hair" is better than "She brushes her hair" :|

2. To help everyone understand what this is really like, it's better if you at least have some knowledge on what happened during WW2, it will help to imagine the setting.

3. SFW, as most RPs are.
