writing Dreaming Aloud (poem)

I've been on a writing binge lately so I figured I'd post two poems today. As bad as the game was, this was very loosely inspired by parts of Assassin's Creed 3. I hope you like it! Comments, suggestions, and requests, are very much welcomed and appreciated.

 

"Dreaming Aloud"

 

My Hands may be empty,
But my Heart's ever full.
Better poor with my principles,
Than wealthy, but cruel.

One never wins,
And you cannot convince me,
By putting profit before people,
Control over liberty.

My words may seem foolhardy,
But what I say here is true,
Because a man cannot live
Without some kind of truth.

Right always wins,
As the storybooks say;
It requires patience and work,
But its fruits come to stay.

You can seek to control,
And to trim some loose ends,
But your followers will fear you,
You'll make foes and not friends.

Hostilities build,
And soon you will find
That, in addition to love,
Victory will be mine.

As for those who forget,
What they know to be right,
Justifying the wicked,
And ignoring man's plight.

Turn to the truth!
Be a brother, a friend,
'Cause this life that we live in,
Shall, soon enough, meet an end.

I may work my ass off,
And I may even die,
But I'll pass away knowing,
I had right on my side.

So respect thy enemy,
And be good to your friends,
Accept all our differences,
And then maybe hate here will end.

I'm an idealist sometimes,
And, guess what? I'm proud!
Because we shape the world
By dreaming aloud.

That was amazing! You, my friend, have a real skill in poetry. The words were beautifully written and the poem itself is very inspiring. 

I love how this poem really hits a perspective on things in life and how they go quickly. That we really need to mind what we do sometimes cause one day, its gonna be gone. Everything we used to know. This poem was almost to the point where i would say, uplifting.

This poem had so much power. Every single point that was mentioned in this poem rang true. 

 

The importance of truth in this poem was an important point for me. I'd rather go out fighting with truth by my side instead of exist in a life of ignorance and naivety.

The importance of truth in this poem was an important point for me. I'd rather go out fighting with truth by my side instead of exist in a life of ignorance and naivety. 

Indeed, but so many people compromise on their principles and forsake the truth in pursuit of material gain or because they see idealism as unrealistic. But as the poem says, it is the people who stick to the truth and their ideals that have the power to shape the world.

My Hands may be empty,

I still hold it out for yours

But my Heart's ever full.

For with my technique it took 6 years

Better poor with my principles,

I learned about love most true

Than wealthy, but cruel.

For now i wish no ill for any man.

 

One never wins,

My apponent...

And you cannot convince me,

For I really do see you

By putting profit before people,

For I lived in your squander

Control over liberty.

with my wish for your fall.

 

My words may seem foolhardy,

My pain is true to my word

But what I say here is true,

For my belief is in the light

Because a man cannot live

With what gets taken

Without some kind of truth.

As knowledge is power.

 

Right always wins,

Justice comes from truth

As the storybooks say;

as so does prophecy.

It requires patience and work,

For 6 years I saw your lies.

But its fruits come to stay.

The fruits of your shameful labor.

 

You can seek to control,

Your power corrupts you.

And to trim some loose ends,

It will be your downfall.

But your followers will fear you,

For my followers have the Power of Faith.

You'll make foes and not friends.

For the Power of Love awaits.

 

Hostilities build,

and some tempers climb.

And soon you will find

What the truth is

That, in addition to love,

You need a leader that is true,

Victory will be mine.

For distracted we all are

What they know to be right,

of Justice not served

We are not blind

We wish for love for all.

Forge in yourself, a hero.

Be a brother, a friend,

Be it the true to their heart,

The world we so love,

I lived in honesty,

And I may even die,

knowing I would find the truth,

But I'll pass away knowing,

The knowledge I share,

I had right on my side.

is all that i have.

And picturing it in our minds.

I think that was one of your best yet! It was so good i not only put in bit as i sometimes do i kinda put a little personalization in for good measure. lol  Anyways nice job.
