My Little Dashie Emotion Experiment Test

RussellB

Recommended Posts

I've put together a video as an experiment test I'm currently doing:

Please comment BOTH on here and the video, that would keep the post alive, the more results the better.

This is an emotion test, or crying test to be specific.

This is an emotion experiment test I've put together, please follow the following instructions to fully participate in the test:

The scene I used was from Clannad After Story, CONTAIN SPOILERS.
I've replaced the subtitles with something that will fit with MLD.
The last video clip was from:

Credits to him.

1. Refresh your mind the scene in which the father and Dashie reunited after she ran away from home:

and watch till the part where they both settle down and head back home, this is to 'emotionally pump' you up.

2. After the video is finished, in the comments, kindly state if you have cried or have not, and state the intensity, DO NOT exaggerate or be hesitant to tell the truth, this is after all, a test. When was the climax? When did you start crying?

3. The louder the volume the bigger the impact it will be.

4. Watch at 720P

5. If you happen to cry, don't stop yourself, set your face in a crying position to let the emotions out however don't force it either.

Thanks for your participation and cooperation.

I never cried the first time I read it, the second time watching the video with the anime style of things with just subtitles didn't really make me wanna cry anymore, if anything it made it less emotional I guess.

It might've been due to the fact I already read the fanfic though, so idk. Maybe I'm just heartless :P.

but yeah, no tears from me. Its not really as emotional for me as the first time, even if I didn't cry during either time.

Strange, did you follow everything? The instructions...?

In what way did the anime drawings stopped you from crying, was it that you didn't like the drawing style, or was the drawing not showing the actual I don't know, emotion?

Yeah, I think its because of the fact that I don't have any emotional attachment to anime characters in the way I have with something like Rainbow Dash. It also has to do I guess with already having read the story.

I'm not really sure if the actual crying moment in the clip was something I found almost annoying or the most heartdroping part, if not both.

Don't get me wrong my heart still kinda dropped when she cried, but the whole subtitles thing isn't as emotionally driven as reading a story and only having Rainbow dash and the guy to think about. I think the fact its not in English and has the extra language in also breaks some of it to me.

I'm also not really the type to cry over movies and the such, I never really have been.

Thanks for the feedback, I knew it all along, I was lacking in the connectivity part, which is the basic foundation in my opinion, of creating a sad story.

The scene I picked didn't really suit well, the language was different.

I guess the viewers or participants weren't too connected with it.

Well I am only one individual. An experiment is never a proper one without a broad array of different people afterall :P. Some people may find it sad and some may end up bawling tears by the end.

I just happen to be one who didn't I guess.

I'd wait for a bit more feedback before concluding anything personally though :).

Noap. Didnt cry. To be honest, the really loud crying part in the anime kinda jump-scared me :3. It was all quiet and serious and then BAM. Although I didnt cry during the fanfic either. I got emotional, but thats about it.

That's actually the climax, the first parts of the actual thing was suppose to put you near the border of crying, and when the music goes loud, and everything starts getting emotional, it's suppose to break the border, once the border is broken, it was easier to cry so I added the climax of the fanfic at the end.

So far

Bad - 1

Neutral - 1

Good - 0

Ah. Ya I wasnt really expecting it :P But Ive never been one to cry over books or movies or anything like that. Im guessing it will stir up some emotions in more than one person in the future.

Dude, been a while since I'd seen Clannad, but even when I watched that scene with Ushio and Tomoya I didn't cry. Same with My Little Dashie, which I've also only read once, a while ago. I know you may have personally been affected by both series (assuming you've seen Clannad: After Story) and instantly made the connection, but... To be honest, unless other people have both seen the Clannad: After Story scene and read MLD, are really emotional, or both, people probably aren't going to cry over this.

And that's overlooking the complicated instructions and the fact that they have no emotional familiarity with or background story to the Clannad characters...

This experiment made a clever connection, but I think it's a personal one. It's going to affect you more than anyone.

Exactly, SPOT ON,

That was what I wanted to mention.

Both MLD and Clannad has the same very basic rule to follow:

Sad Life -> Finds Happiness -> Lives with Happiness -> Something goes wrong -> Loses Happiness -> Personal Ending.

I bet almost 90% people in the educated world has experience this somewhere in their lives, their purpose to make a connection, to place the person itself in the story. The only difference is which video/writting/movie makes the best connection as said in my previous quote, being the very basic foundation of creating a sad story.

But you are right, the person HAS to understand both sides of the story. Which I said in my quote again, that the fact that they didn't know Clannad, doesn't create any connectivity with the viewer, some probably.

Don't worry, this is just my first experiment, it's bound to have a trillion mistakes.

Thanks for the feedback.

Wait.. you didn't cry in Clannad? Are you for real? It was voted as one of the best Sad anime in history ever, it's like in the top 10, there are trillions of polls and youtube videos with titles such as "top 10 sad animes" and clannad never fails to be in any of them.

The Clannad clip in my mind did not... as you say make the connection with the fan fiction.

My Little Dashie made me cry the first time and idk, just didn't feel the same so no I did not cry (this time >_>)

Yeah, I know :/ Sometimes I wish I was more emotional (I mean, I can get pretty emotional sometimes, but in the wrong ways for the wrong reasons over the smallest things) just so I could experience stories like Clannad, and My Little Dashie, and yes, even Cupcakes, on a deeper level. I feel sometimes like I'm missing out because tears don't well up in my eyes at these things. Maybe I'm desensitized by a combination of over-exposure to media and attention deficit medication. Or maybe it makes the things I do get teared up over all the more important, who knows. All I know is it'll take something deep and precise to get me to release those sacred springwaters of emotion.

No. I won't empty my tear tanks again! Later when I can't cry because I've run out of tears. My shirt was soaked in tears and ande it shall not be soaked again!

I uhh didn't cry

HOLD IT!!!

Don't think I'm heartless because I'm not.

I have an excuse.

The problem is that someone ruined the story for me. Someone told me the story, what happend, certain scenes, etc. the point is someone ruins it fore to discover.

Don't get me wrong I felt sad at those parts, but I was expecting them and thus I didn't cry.

Sorry.
