gaming Delayed DLC releases

Lost

Recommended Posts

So, a while back Xbox got the new DLC for Black ops 2, Microsoft being Microsoft, paid for first release of the DLC, fair enough IMO, but PC and PS3 don't get the DLC until the 28th of this month.

So I ask, what are everypony's views on DLC being delayed based on platform?

I personally think its fine, but only if the delay is no more than a week.

Well, I have no problem when a DLC is delayed. But if it is based on platform, then I find it unfair.

Xbox only got the DLC early was because, Activision and Microsoft signed a contract where Xbox gets the DLC a month earlier then PS3 and PC. Pretty much, the wait is unbearable for some and easy for others.

It is perfectly fair that Xbox users get the DLC first. We pay for our online service and we get certain benefits for it. PS3 and PC users do not have to pay for their online services so they have no reason to complain.

Considering Xbox Live is a paid service I can understand why they get the DLC first. Also it doesn't really matter who gets it first or not, the games aren't cross platform anyway, you're not going to be at an advantage because you've had a few days to learn the map over the other platforms.

As a PC user I'm very much to dealing with delays and getting things after the console users. Most of the time a delay for the PC is a good thing, it usually means the DLC is being ported well.

The issue I've ever had with DLC in terms of different platforms is if each platforms has exclusive DLC, which is completely unfair.

PC may not pay a sub, but remember your X-box cost what? £150-£200, a decent gaming PC sets you back around £700, mine is sat at £3,000 right now. You only get DLC first because microsoft have the money for the payoff.

It's perfectly understandable for 360 users to get DLC first. They have to pay to be able to play online whereas PS3 and PC are free.

As for the delays itself,I'm perfectly fine with it.I'm usually optimisitc when I hear delays anyways since it usually means that they're taking the time to develop quality stuff, and that's always a plus in my book.

To be fair though, you're getting a much better gaming experience because you have a much more powerful machine. PC users often don't have to deal with games being locked to 30fps and we get a much smoother and better looking game. Not to mention that keyboard and mouse is often a better control method.

I think delays don't matter when we end up with just a better looking product. Delays for the PC mean better ports and that goes for both DLC and game releases.
